Shipping Label Design Rather than print custom shipping envelopes, many companies simply print their logo and return address on a shipping label, typically a 3x4” label. If you have a good quality inkjet printer, you can print reasonably good mailing labels in-‐house. Quality: What quality level do you need? Your Value Proposition Your Design Theme If you’d like to create your own shipping labels, follow this checklist. CHECKLIST FOR SHIPPING LABELS
Purchase the labels from an office supply store.
Download a blank Word template from www.avery.com -‐-‐ they offer a wide range of label sizes and formats Insert your color logo and your return address (using your standard company font) on the first label. Depending on your desired layout, you may need to use the drawing feature to create a text box with your address. Type in a standard recipient address (to test the relative size and location). Make sure it’s in the correct font. When you’re satisfied with the look and layout, save a number of document templates: 1. A version with logos and return address only on every label* 2. A version with no logo/return address and a sample recipient address on label #1* 3. Templates the same as #1 and #2 above but with the recipient address on label #2, #3, #4, etc.* Print the color logo templates on your color printer. To print an individual label, you can open the document template for the label position, change the recipient address, and then print on a laser printer (or your inkjet) onto the preprinted logo labels.*

*If you always use a color printer, you have the option to print your logo at the same time you print the individual label documents, instead of pre-‐printing label sheets with logos. When you’re finished, make sure the template is consistent with your brand strategy. ENTER YOURS IS THE TEMPLATE CONSISTENT?
