This project is part of the the proposal presented to the “call for ideas: LET’S CREATE A FRIENDLY SCHOOL IN MOZAMBIQUE” and it was developed by multidisciplinary and creative platform ///popcorn/// (http://popcornweb.net/).
The call for ideas was launched by the portuguese NGO Big Hand (http://www.thebighand.org/), in partnership with Architects Without Borders Portugal, and based on the guidelines "Child Friendly School" by UNICEF. This competition proposed to create a THINK TANK for the future construction of a central school and some satellite smaller schools in various locations in Mozambique.
The project presented is just a schematic design that will adapt itself to the geography, climate, culture and needs of each location and population.
The choice of a local material, the earth, is a sustainable choice for being natural, accessible and available at all locations. The earth also keeps alive the constructive tradition of the country.
