FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Deacon McCusker: I was saddened to receive your letter of February 5, 2016 and to learn that you continue to suffer with your chronic daily headache syndrome. Please know that you remain in my prayers for a full recovery from this debilitating illness. Acting upon your request, I hereby relieve you of your pastoral responsibilities at Mary, Mother of Jesus Church in Woodworth due to health issues. You continue to enjoy the faculties of the Diocese of Alexandria and may serve as deacon, if your health permits and if a pastor requests it.

As a Catholic community we are called to be one body in Christ and to live as His disciples. The Annual Diocesan Appeal offers each of us the opportunity to become one in His body by supporting the ministries of the local Church and contributing to the ADA.

Stewardship Note The second reading from Saint Paul to the Romans is a favorite of those involved in the ministry of evangelization. There are no “secret” disciples of the Lord. Those who exercise good stewardship of their faith realize that publicly identifying themselves as followers of Christ has a cleansing effect on their lives. Openly confessing Christ makes them more conscious of how they live their daily lives. Are we content to privatize our faith or are we good stewards of a faith that we share, make public, and regularly identify as a life in Christ?
