Dear Parishioners, I am a visually oriented person. What I see, is more important to me than what I hear. Or at least, I tend to observe reality more through my vision than my hearing. We appreciate our fellow human beings for many reasons, and sometimes, we place physical attraction at a premium. But have you ever noticed that sometimes we meet someone who is physically very beautiful, but emotionally, mentally and spiritually they are downright ugly. Then they are not quite so gorgeous. The world can be a place that gives priority to the body over the soul. And make no mistake, the human body can be very beautiful, and since it is made in the image of God, is very holy. But we also have a soul. And since the soul is who the person really is, we must attend to its nourishment as well as that of the body. In fact, the soul requires more care. Therefore, let us look to our souls and prepare them for life with God. It is our souls that he will judge, not our bodies. Sincerely yours, Father John
