Dear Parishioners, Another expression that we will see changed in the Liturgy is also in the Creed. We currently say that we believe, in “...all that is seen and unseen.” This will be changed to “...of all things visible and invisible.” The car I formerly owned, for example, is not something I can see at the moment. Someone else owns it. If I drove to the new owner’s house, I could see it again. But the Creed is saying something far more radical. We believe that there are entities or beings who are invisible. No one on earth can see them. God is invisible but I believe in him anyway. But he is not the only one who is invisible. The saints and angels are invisible. Grace is invisible. Heaven is invisible. There is a whole world that is invisible. The visible world is supported and maintained by the invisible. The invisible realities are where we are all headed. But we must be careful not to think that invisible means less real. That is where we must change our attitude about what is most important and most real. God is invisible, and yet it is upon him that everything visible and invisible depends. Sincerely yours, Father John SHEPHERD CENTER OCTOBER FOOD DRIVE The Shepherd Center is asking for your help. The Shepherd Center is a ministry of last resort for people who do not qualify for assistance through other programs. Many of the individuals and families we help are working people who have temporarily fallen on hard times. Assistance includes food, emergency shelter, rental and utility payments, furniture, clothing and the well-known Christmas Cheer Program. Throughout the month of October, Mary, Mother of Jesus will sponsor a collection of protein for the food pantry at the Shepherd Center. This includes tuna, canned meats, peanut butter, etc. There will be a basket in the vestibule of the church to collect donations. Please be as generous as possible. - Bobbie Long
