OCTOBER ‘DATE NIGHT’: Join us on Saturday, Oct. 1 for our October Marriage Ministry “Date Night” in Olinger Hall.

This night is open to all married couples of Our Lady of Prompt Succor parish. Marriage enrichment is from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. with babysitting continuing until 8:00 P.M. to allow couples time for a “date.” Please reply by this Wednesday, Sept. 28 if you will need babysitting so appropriate arrangements can be made. Contact Paul Hood at dre@olpschurch.org for reservations or questions. Future Date Nights are Saturdays, Nov. 5 and Dec. 10.

WWWWWWW OLPS PARISH SUPPERS are held every Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M. in Olinger Hall. The Knights of Columbus Council 8029 hosts and prepares the suppers. Meals are $4.00 per plate, same price as last year. Eat in or take out; you are encouraged to stay and eat in the Hall and visit with other members of our church family. REGISTRATION FOR CATHOLIC HEART WORK CAMP (June 30-July 7, 2012) is now open for junior high and high school students. The high school camp, in Knoxville, TN, is open to students currently in eighth through twelfth grades. The junior high camp is in Charlotte, NC and is open to those currently in sixth and seventh grades. OLPS School will embark upon its fifth annual play production, Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Once again, we’ll partner with Family Playhouse under the direction of Catherine Pears and Tina Smith to produce the play. A workshop for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty will be held on Monday, Oct. 3 with auditions taking place on Saturday, Oct. 8. All those who participate in the workshop and the audition will be cast in a role. Disney’s Sleeping Beauty audition forms will go home this Wednesday and may also be obtained at our website, www.promptsuccor.org under the “Forms and Letters” link. Q: What will happen after the texts are used in liturgical celebrations?

A: The long-term goal of the new translation is to foster a deeper awareness and appreciation of the mysteries being celebrated in the Liturgy. The axiom lex orandi, lex credendi – “what we pray is what we believe” – suggests that there is a direct relationship between the content of our prayers and the substance of our faith. It is hoped that writers will start to provide materials reflecting on the rich content of the text. These contributions might encourage priests to use the content of the prayers as a basis for their homilies or to supplement their homilies on Sundays.
