ST. MARTIN ANNOUNCEMENTS Mother’s Day started out with a real treat with “Muffins for Moms”. Special Thanks to Donna Robinson and the Youth Group for hosting the breakfast that was enjoyed by all who attended. The food was great and Donna went an extra mile to make each and every Mother feel special. May God Bless her for all her endeavors. Special Thanks to all the mothers who came to the Mother’s Day breakfast before church last Sunday. Also, a big thank you to Frank & Connie Rachal, Alicia Monroe, & Marie Bell for all their help: Sherri Young for the flowers, & Kathy Monroe for getting the biscuits for us! I hope all the mothers enjoyed their special day! – Donna Robinson There will be a final meeting for Event 2013 on Thursday, May 23 at 6:00 P.M. Silent Auction: By popular demand we are going to have a Silent Auction this year. We have sent out letters to Louisiana vendors to send samples of Louisiana products. If you would like to contribute a basket or item, we are asking for items that are Louisiana related. Examples—LSU baskets, hunting or fishing items, Louisiana recipes, pictures depicting Louisiana, etc. We may also need some items to complete baskets with samples that we receive from vendors. If you are interested in donating to Silent Auction, please contact Sylvia Hebert 446-5253. Thanks for any help you can give. Attention: In the past during the Event there hasn’t been anything for the children. This year during Event 2013, we will be having a children’s Carnival on Saturday June 1st after Mass. It will begin at 6:30 and end at 8:30. We need sponsors for the booths. We have all games, slides, food, etc. We just need families to man the booths, take up tickets, and supply the prizes (candy, small toys, etc.) Please call Donna Wade 613-5489 if you would like to help and make this fun for our children. Event 2013: We need Live Auction items. Anything we can get will be wonderful. Remember the Mystery Envelope in the back of the church. Mark your calendars for stthe weekend of Friday, ndMay 31st, Saturday, June 1 and Sunday June 2 . Any gardeners out there? There will be a Farmers Market. We need all the help we can get with getting items for the Live Auction. To be able to have a successful event takes a lot of extra help. There are many ways you can volunteer your time. All are welcome to join in. If there are any questions, please contact Jill Reynolds at 715-6000 or Robyn Carrington at 4476007. T-shirts for the Event are in the back of the church. Cost is $12.00 per shirt. St. Martin Knitting Circle meets every Tuesday from 2-3 P.M. in the CCD building. You do not have to know how to knit to join. For more information call Marilyn Gonzales at 776-1410.
Knights Of Columbus meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month. YOUTH ANNOUNCEMENTS Youth Mass at 5:00 PM the first Sunday of every month. Rosary Saturday, May 25, at 10:00 AM in the Church Hall. GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Line Dancing every week. Call Pam NesSmith for time and dates at 318-794-5775. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Can You forgive Me? “Can you ever forgive me?” Few of us ever say those words or get to hear them from someone else. Have you ever really asked for someone’s forgiveness? I don’t mean, “Oh, forgive me, I didn’t mean to drop the door on you.” I mean the kind of heart-wrenching moment when we realize, “I did a terrible thing”when you say to yourself, “I am guilty, I need to admit it.” Today, guilty people get clapped for on TV! But we aren’t the general public-we are a community of believers in the Holy Spirit, calling us to a different standard, deep in the heart of our consciences. That Holy Spirit convicts us in our hearts when we are breaking any spiritual laws – makes us face the truth when we are being stubborn about our hatred and other sins. Try this mental test. Think of someone you know in the opposite political party whom you think of as ignorant, stubborn or stupid; you can’t stand his or her politics OR even their general way of looking at life. Do you have the person in mind? Now picture yourself going up to them, putting your arms around them, and saying, “Roger(or Ann), or whomever), I am so judgmental and really, just arrogant in my attitude toward you. I am a sinner myself, and am in no position to criticize you at all, believe me. I’d be ashamed if you knew some of the terrible things I’ve said and thought! So I hope you’ll accept my apology for being so full of pride. I’d like us to live in peace and be grateful that God brought us together in life.” Can you do it? It’s God asking. Go in peace to love and serve our God. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Child Sexual Abuse Blessing Dear Lord, We ask to bless Your holy people who participate in the church’s efforts to help stop child sexual abuse. Open their hearts to Your call to be the ears, eyes and voice of children and young people everywhere. Give them the vision and grace needed to fulfill the special commitments that each of them has made to making their homes, churches, schools, programs, communities and world a safer place for all of God’s Children. Amen
