ST. MARTIN ANNOUNCEMENTS

I Can’t Wait

Father Pedro will be on vacation from June 5 until June 29. Fr. Courville will be here for weekend Masses.

What do we think of this amazing miracle story today of Jesus feeding 5,000 with loaves and fishes? That’s what I call a “Happy Meal”!! But of “Eucharist” means thanksgiving, then “Communion” to us means being the Body of Christ in union with everything that lives around us, and all those who have died, and those who are yet to be born.

June 7 has been designated as the annual day of prayer and fasting throughout the dioceses of Louisiana, asking God’s protection during the hurricane season St. Martin Knitting Circle meets every Tuesday from 2-3 P.M. in the CCD building. Do we feel thankful, and unified with this vast Catholic community, as we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus each Sunday? Or do we feel pretty crabby about being there at all? As one man said, “I don’t want to think any deeper, I just do the church thing and leave.” So he slips in and out of church, avoids eye contact and gives the bare minimum of response and involvement at Mass. There is a way to make this a Happy Meal, not a “church thing! Let’s try to get into the spirit of the people in the gospel today: “Hey, pass some of that bread and fish back here – I can’t wait!” So as you drive to church next Sunday, think on these things: “I can’t wait to be together with everyone at Mass; it’s so good to be with a community that prays to God. “I can’t wait to give the sign of peace to the people around me, especially strangers - feel good to welcome hungry people the way Jesus did.” I can’t wait to receive Jesus’ Body and Blood; that’s my source of strength for the whole week. It’s amazing – I’m part of His Body in real time! It changes everything in my life.” I can’t wait to express my gratitude for my life and my gifts, and to hear everyone else giving thanks. We can’t take Jesus into our hearts without giving thanks for everything.” Go in peace to love and serve our God! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ AGE HAPPENS You know you’re getting old when you’re sitting in a rocker and you can’t get it started. Milton Berle You’ve reached old age when the gleam in your eye is just the sun on your bifocals. Henny Youngman Getting old has its advantages. I can no longer read the bathroom scale. Brad Shreiber If you have bulletin announcements or additions and deletions to the prayer list, please have them in the office by 8:00 AM Thursdays. You may e-mail or call the office. Please remember to patronize our bulletin advertisers and to let them know you saw their ad in the bulletin.
