01 minimal living space: a tower

*distinction award in ‘Jednostka Mieszkalna Minium’ competition by Architektura Murator magazine

The Living Tower is my answer to an ‘utopian’ problem: in a world where hunting is no more and the only things left of it are abandoned deer blinds and hunting platforms. I wanted to re-define their function and make sure they won’t be related to killing, but to art and science instead. It is a short-term shelter for artists, photographers and ornithologists or anyone who loves to observe Nature, without interfering. On two levels, each a 2-by-2 square, all the basic necessaries are fulfilled: a small kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom. The third level is a terrace. The Tower is an off-grid living system, containing energy utility (photovoltaic panels), rainwater tank, solar panels for heating and an individual wastewater tratment unit in the ground. In a perfect world there won’t be a need for hunters: their work will be done in a more humane way, letting them engage in more peaceful recreation.

02 cargoffice

Cargoffice is a co-working space and a creative business centre. Constructed with reinforced shipping containers, each an office to rent or to share, it’s a building for all creative people: designers, artists, writers, craftsmen etc. This rather industrial aesthetic (a reference to a cargo terminal and train station nearby) will draw artistic souls to this slightly forgotten area of Poznań. Each cargo is an insulated, separate structure, that can be moved and rearranged, which brings life to the facade. Wide corridors are perfect for exposition purpose. People can meet in the restaurant on ground floor or a terrace bar at the top of the building, so the ideas can be shared and the creativity is always flowing.

03 sports hall and community centre The new sports&recreation complex is located in the first ‘jordanowski’ garden in Poznan- it was a green area founded specially for youth, to give them a safe space to play and exercise, and to protect the youngest from ‘street’s bad influence’. Today most of the original plan is changed and the garden lost it’s symmetry and alignment. In my project I wanted to restore it’s previous design and funcion. My design contains of three buildings: bulding A is the sports hall equipped with all the supply network, administration etc. Building B is a more commercial space, with gym, fitness class, spa and parking lot. The smallest bulding C is a creative space for art classes and extra activities for children. I wanted the whole complex to fulfill all needs of a child: physical, intellectual and artistic as well.

04 house for a changing family

The idea behind this project is to create an adjustable living space for a multigenerational family. A daughter becomes a young mom and wants to live separately, but still close to her parents. In time, when parents’ need change, they can switch ‘apartments’ with daughter, or rent the bigger part of the house if she decides to move out. The house consists of two smalles homes, conected with the area of common use.

05 urban development: Chwaliszewo Str. *distinction award in ‘Rewitalizacja Traktu Cesarskiego’ competition by Poznań City Hall A group project with Sonia Dubois. Our aim was to revitalise Poznań’s beutiful district of Chwaliszewo Street and the Royal-Imperial Route connecting the Old Town and cathedral at Ostrów Tumski. We pedestrianised Chwaliszewo Str. (with a passage for delivery trucks) and created a new circuit road. As an addition to that we designed a sidewalk leading through the underpass under the busy Estkowskiego Str. New network of promenades beautified with benches, street lamps, signboards and waste bins bring pedestrians to the waterfront, creating a better, more friendly urban space. Other additions are: a viewpoint and a footbridge, both finished with corten steel and aesthetically referring to said street furniture. We believe that bringing people to this beautiful new area will solve most of it’s current problems.
