The Hong Kong Group Fund has been subsidizing outstanding students from poor families in Mainland China to further their studies in Hong Kong XX University for six consecutive years. It has allotted HK$18 million in total, contributing towards the education in our mother country. Last week, the principle of X University, Professor Wong Ying Wai, visited the Hong Kong Group with a dozen or so recipient Mainland students. They met the chairman of the fund, Mr. Chan Tai Man, and expressed their gratitude to the fund. During the meeting, Mr. Chan talked friendly with the visiting students about their plans of development after graduation. He said, ‘the Hong Kong Group Fund has been providing eighty underprivileged talented students in Mainland with subsidies to complete their studies every year since 2005. We are much honored about this. We also hope that the recipient students could achieve their studies and become the pillars of our motherland in the future.’ At the same time, Professor Wong appreciated the Hong Kong Group Fund for the financial assistance and said, ‘the grants offered students with financial difficulties substantial support together with the opportunities to receive higher education. Our university will continue our efforts on equipping high-quality talents with the sense of responsibility, innovative spirit and international visions for our country.’
