FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Community Members, This report card is an overview of what Sage Elementary offers to students. Last year, we received an Overall Rating of about average, meaning that our students are performing about as well on standardsbased tests as students at other Oregon elementary schools. Academic highlights for 3rd5th grade: • 76% met or exceeded state standards for reading which is 5% above the state average. • 66% met or exceeded state standards for math which is 4% above the state average. We have seen considerable growth among student with disabilities in both reading and math. There has been slow growth in reading and

math scores among English language learners and Economically Disadvantaged students. To address this, we’ve chosen to focus on implementing the new Common Core State Standards (CCCS). We will deliver the same excellence you have come to expect from Sage Elementary. You can help by monitoring your child's homework and attending parentteacher conferences. In grades 35, you can view assignments and grades using ParentVUE online at www.redmond.k12.or.us. We look forward to teaming together with you to make success possible for all students! Thank you, Principal | Carolyn Espinosa

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Community Members, This report card is issued by the Oregon Department of Education. It provides a detailed picture of what Elton Gregory Middle School offers to our students. In 20122013, we received an Overall State Rating of above average. This means that our students performed slightly better on the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) than students at other Oregon middle schools. Key academic highlight: • Our students are performing slightly better in Math and Science than other Oregon students. However, our subgroup performance (students with disabilities) in Reading was below average.

While we celebrate our achievements, we have a good deal of work to do. I assure you that GROWTH of ALL students is priority. We are introducing some instructional changes with our implementation of Common Core in Literacy and Math. We will continue to offer Math and Reading Strategies courses to target skill deficits and prepare students for meeting benchmarks. I encourage you to communicate with your child’s teachers. You can monitor your student’s assignments and progress on ParentVUE at http://egms.redmond.k12.or.us. Thank you, Principal | Tracie Renwick
