ACADEMIC PROJECT | MASTER THESIS
THE FORM AS THE STRUCTURAL ELEMENT OF THE SOCIAL SPACE
Equipment and Public spaces as (re)qualificaon elements of Quinta do Mocho The city of Lisbon’s as been marked by a diperse evoluon along its limits, creang a stage of social duality and conflits, where social housing marks these landscapes, neglecng the public structure and its social potencial. This city’s limits growth, supported on pendulous diary circulaon, takes from this “places” their social connecon, killing the interacon and social integraon of the city. In “The Form as the structural element of the scoial space” it’s made a crical discourse of the city’s growth and theories, gaining shape through the development of the Civic Equipment in QUinta do Mocho, Sacavém. The proposal of this public center is supported on the concept of the reintegraon of the public and social space, working as a requalificaon strategy of these peripherical urban areas marked by social marginalizaon, focusing in the relaon between the environment, preexistent, and the human being. The Equipment has, as a central part, the development of a colecve equipment in relaon with a public space, acng as a central instrument in the requalificaon of the urban territory where Quinta do Mocho is insered in, qualifying the neighborhood and its surroundings. This soluon pretends to create an object that grants identy and centrality to this urban territory, in a way that the form of space can promote a beer spacial coexistence between the sgmazed populaon, and the “others”, the pherifery and the city. The space is seen as central unity of the architectural prace, drawn with a logic supported on exchange, me, miscegenaon, centrality... creng an Architecture of relaons.

ACADEMIC PROJECT | 4TH YEAR
HOTEL IN CARCAVELOS May, 2014
Standing in a landscape facing the sea, the program was focused on the creation of an Hotel that would bring life to a inhabited and promising place. This place is marked by the sea in one front and a g a t h e r i n g o f t r e e s i n t h e o t h e r, c r e a t i n g t w o d i s t i n c t r e l a t i o n s between the nature and Architecture. The Hotel develops as an horizontal element, respecting the great proeminense of the sea, and creating a duality with the horizon line, like a mirror of this infinite line. The constructing emerges as a white materiality in constrast with the green site marked by the trees, having a great respect with the natural elements that already exist there, and creating a subtle relation between the Architecture and the Natural. The Hotel develops in 3 main areas, the service area, the restaurant area, with a direct relation with the sea and the exterior public part (pool, open spaces), and the bedrooms area, that has in its core a conventual environment, and it opens to the landscapein the interior of the spaces. THe light appears as an element creator of space, where the courtyards and the ceiling openings in paralel with the white materiality give this project a clean and subtle environment.

ACADEMIC PROJECT | 3RD YEAR
HOUSING
November 2012
In the neighbourhoods of Lisbon’s periphery, the development of housing has been growing in a defragmented canvas, creating a city with no relationship between its elements, and obsolete public spaces. This project develops in two distinct type of buildings, the vertical housing, and the villas. Facing the main road of the connection to the centre of the city, are displaced 4 housing buildings, and facing the road that has more familiar living, are placed the villas. The housing is developed in three blocks, the block where are the duplex’s face the street, setting the street front. The block of the simpex houses, grow to the centre of the landscape, creating spaces and circulations that brings back the public space and the architecture of relations that has been missing in the periphery. The third block is the access block, that unites the duplex and the simplex houses, defining the “separation” through its “body”, between the main road public living and the public space created by the housing. This project itends to create a sewing rule to the defragmented periphery and revive the public space, giving these forgotten places, the right to the city.
ACADEMIC PROJECT | 2ND YEAR
A SCHOOL FOR A PLACE June 2011
In this second year project, the idea was to create a dancing school in a terrain that was beeing used as a parking lot. This place is situated in the heart of Ajuda, a typical Lisbon neighborhood, right by the side of an anciente Church. The dancing school is sketched in a way that its object creates a duality with the Church of Memรณria, by its materials and by its form, developing like an horizontal body that ends in a great concrete block, the main dancing space. Facing the street, the church maitains the scale of the housing, trying to fit in its surroundings, and respecting the preexistent urban scale.
