In an increasingly globalized world, cross-cultural and intercultural teaching and learning is an ever-growing reality. Educators and trainers must understand the unique dynamics of cross-cultural and intercultural teaching and learning by studying cultural traits and learning styles. This paper begins by exploring key components of cross- and intercultural education and communication as well as various models of learning styles. The paper then analyzes the learning styles of 10 students of theology and missiology at the Paraná Baptist Theological Faculty in Brazil, based on data collected through the application of four learning style inventories: VARK, LDPride, ILS and HBR. Results of the students’ learning styles are then compared with the professor’s culture and teaching preferences — taking into special consideration Hofstede’s Power Distance Index — in order to develop a strategic plan for preparing and teaching courses in missiology at the Paraná (Brazil) Bapt.
