Your legacy Creating a sustainable future for paediatrics and child health
Everything you need to know about remembering the RCPCH in your Will
RCPCH Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health
Leading the way in Children’s Health
Supporting Child Health At the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health it is our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of babies, children and young people across the world, by supporting paediatricians, shaping policy and improving practice.
Help us to: •
Shape the future of child health.
• Inspire and train paediatricians of the future. • Harness knowledge, data and intelligence. • Equip health care professionals with the skills and knowledge they need. • Advocate on health issues that matter to children and young people.
Leaving us a gift in your Will With your generous support, we can continue to research, advocate, inspire and be the voice for infants, children, and young people, long into the future. A generous legacy donation from Dr Michael Williams made it possible to undertake a project which looked at children and young people’s mental health. Demi, one of the young volunteers, reflected on her experience saying:
“ We helped to improve mental health services and created recognition of the changes that are really needed. To any paediatricians thinking about making a project donation, if you have the means and are invested in changing the system for the better this is an opportunity not to be missed! ”
How your gift will make a difference
As well as our essential work in education and career support for paediatricians, our staff and members work on a range of programmes to improve child health. From quality improvement and workforce studies, to global child health programmes and the effects of climate change on children and young people.

Education and training
The RCPCH works tirelessly to ensure children and young people have a voice and a right to shape the care they receive. By leaving a legacy to this area, you will ensure children and young people’s voices will continue to be heard.
The RCPCH supports cutting-edge research and quality improvement to develop new technologies and treatments for children and young people. This will help young people have the best possible start in life and to become healthy adults.
We work with child health professionals to continue their learning and equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to deliver the best healthcare for children and young people.

Influencing health policy
Climate change
By leaving a legacy to the RCPCH, you will be helping to improve child health in low resource settings, making a huge difference across the world. We are currently running programmes in a number of countries including Myanmar and Rwanda, from emergency triage assessment and treatment to essential new-born care.
Ensuring decision-makers introduce the best public policy for children and young people is an important part of our work at the RCPCH. We want children and young people at the heart of NHS policy and practice and your legacy can help us achieve this.
The RCPCH recognises that climate change is an existential threat to the health and wellbeing of children and young people. We are working tirelessly to influence the climate change agenda, particularly focussing on the health impacts on children and young people.
What to consider when leaving your legacy If you decide to generously leave us a gift in your Will, here are a few things to remember… A legacy has no maximum or minimum amount. We are grateful for every donation we receive, no matter the size. There are three principal types of legacy: A pecuniary gift: A fixed sum of money. A residuary gift: The remainder of estate after expenses have been paid. A specific gift: Specific assets and property. We strongly recommend you seek professional legal advice, particularly if your will isn't straightforward. Please consult our website for more information regarding this.
Our promise to you As a young Royal College, there is already so much we have to be proud of; the results are evident, however there is so much more we want to achieve in order to continue serving children, young people and paediatricians to the best of our ability. Any gift you leave in your Will to the RCPCH will be used where it is needed most and support a cause that is important to you.
As child health care professionals, we understand the importance of looking after family first. Even 1% of what’s left after you have taken care of your loved ones would make a huge difference to the work we do to improve health outcomes for children and young people.
Thank You… for considering leaving a gift in your Will to support the future of child health outcomes.
Paediatricians touch the lives of sick children and their families like no other profession. It is more than a caring profession, it’s a family and a lifelong vocation.
