Signage for Footprints Family Centre
Main Entrance The main sign would be where the current ‘mural’ sign is. This will have the logo and a list of the main activities taking place at the centre with their general direction indicated by an arrow, as well as the phone number and opening times (to be confirmed). Above the entrance there is currently a blank space which would read ‘main entrance’, which is appropriate for both the centre as a whole and the church. The current sign for Buttershaw Baptist Church would be removed.
Colour Colour will be used as a means of labelling the different uses of the building, making it easy for people to recognise which door they should enter. This will also translate into branding for each area for the web and publications. Another suggestion is to use ‘footprints’ as a means of directing people to the correct area from the main sign. These could be painted on the ground in the correct colour leading to the correct door. This would especially work well for the children’s work. (This could be added at a later date if desired, after the initial signs are up).
Activities (All activites/ rooms still need to be confirmed). Main sign includes: -Church Hall -Food Co-op -Childcare 0-2 -Childcare 2-3 -Childcare 3-4 -Transformation -Beadale Centre Internal Signs: -Church Hall +Sunday Services +Child Contact Centre +Lunch club +Mums & Tots +Training -Food Co-op -Transformation +Sozo +Counselling The internal activities can be listed on notice boards. This will allow the activities to be changed with ease as new lists can be printed when needed.
Childcare Childcare can be signposted as one group or separately from the main sign. Age works well to separate each childcare area but the names of each still need to be defined. The Childcare side of the building would benefit from the Footprints logo as the main entrance isn’t visible from this side. Above each door would be the appropriate childcare heading in the co-ordinating colour.
Beadale Centre The Beadale centre will be signposted from the main footprints centre, where people will be able to ask for directions until the general community become familiar with its location and activities. The Footprints Family Centre would benefit from a ‘you are here’ map at the Beadale centre with directions to the main centre and the list of activities on site.
