Despite their presence on billboards and television, the place Wettermark Keith looms the largest is in the courtroom. Unlike many law firms that seem to be mostly about marketing, Wettermark Keith are first and foremost trial attorneys. “Our work doesn’t stop at billboards or on TV. We have been trying cases for numerous years all over the country. We handle cases from inception to end, obtaining fantastic results for clients. You may see us on television, but we are also the ones that are going to walk into that courtroom with you and handle the case,” Chris Keith says. Keith and his partner James Wettermark deeply care about the work they do. “We are a trial firm and a personal injury firm and we are proud of it,” Keith says. Wettermark Keith has a regional law practice, handling a wide variety of injury cases including representing injured railroad workers across the country. “I try to do our best to use the law to help put our clients’ lives back together. The law gives us one tool and that is money,” says James Wettermark. “They don’t say they are sorry; they don’t send you flowers. The law tries to compensate people with money. Some of it is easy, you can calculate lost wages or medical expenses. Some of it is hard. You have to calculate how much it is worth to go through the rest of your life missing a limb? How much is it worth to go through the rest of your life when your spouse has been killed in a wreck, or you’ve experienced the death of a child? It is hard to put a price tag on those, but that is what we are good at. It is not something you learn at law school. It is not something you learn at home.”
You learn it in the courtroom, trying case after case, Wettermark says. “As a lawyer you learn how to take someone’s misfortune and convey that to a jury of 12 people, so that they can give fair and reasonable compensation. That is what our job is. To prove that our clients misfortune or injury was caused by someone else’s negligence, and then to fully explain to a jury the impact that injury has had on them and award a reasonable compensation.” The skills to obtain a full and complete recovery for clients is something that takes practice. “The ultimate practice is actually trying cases, and we try a lot of cases. I have tried hundreds of cases. Every year I get a little better at it,” Wettermark says. “Some people have the gift of being able to get in front of 12 people and explain a case and earn their trust and confidence so that they will rule in your favor. I think I have the gift. I know my partner Chris has it.” There is another important aspect of their work that Chris Keith feels sets the firm apart. One word: compassion. “If you go into this line of work and you don’t have compassion and willingness to help people through some of the most difficult times of their lives, then you are in the wrong line of work,” Keith says. Wettermark Keith represents clients from all socioeconomic backgrounds, from truck drivers to doctors and lawyers. “We can put ourselves in their shoes. If you can’t walk in their shoes, then you can’t properly tell their story, and you can’t help them,” Keith says.

Dr. Price Kloess and Dr. Andrew Velazquez It is experience, training, and technology that sets Alabama Vision Center apart when it comes to LASIK surgery. The surgery is performed using advanced blade-free LASIK technology which ensures precision, comfort, and peace of mind. Alabama Vision Center provides a complimentary LASIK consultation with the surgeon in which several key tests are performed and options are discussed. Unlike other centers, patients interact with the surgeon before the procedure is scheduled and have an opportunity, in a sense, to ‘interview’ the doctor who will be performing their surgery. Having LASIK surgery at Alabama Vision Center was a wonderful experience according to Lesli Bass. “It is amazing to wake up at any hour and see the clock or to be able to fall asleep while watching TV and not wake up with painful dry eyes from my contacts. I go on vacation and never have to worry about losing a contact or breaking my glasses. Plus, I can jump in the pool with no worries at all.”

Petro Facial Plastic Surgery & MedSpa

Petro Facial Plastic Surgery & MedSpa “I want the way I look to reflect how I feel!” This is when it is time to consider facial rejuvenation. Death of a parent, decade birthdays, divorce, weddings, or even seeing a “selfie” on Facebook influences women to want to look “pretty” again. Looking in the mirror is depressing because you look tired, and you are full of energy! Make-up doesn’t help because you can’t find your eyeshadow crease, your lipstick runs in the “smoker lines” and you never smoked! Rejuvenation, especially facial rejuvenation not only makes you feel young again but affects how others see you. For me, seeing a woman insecure about how she looks and being able to change that by correcting extra skin on her neck or “bags” under her eyes is nothing short of amazing. The physical changes are outstanding yet the real power is the changes occurring on the inside. When I see patients in follow up they tell me they are more active with exercise, with their spouses, with their grandchildren and often doing things they forgot they enjoyed. The connection between how you look how you feel and how others respond to you simply cannot be understated. I think it’s incredibly important to offer non- surgical as well as surgical options. Technology changes so rapidly and there’s so many things we can do non-surgically that we never thought possible and yet they’re things that are simply not obtainable without surgery. It seems unfair to me to offer surgery without being certain my patients are aware of the nonsurgical options. It also is inherently wrong to provide nonsurgical options for patients that will not have an acceptable outcome without surgery. I spend an extraordinary amount of time with my patients explaining these options so

that they can make very best decision possible. They’re times in your life when surgery and downtime is just not an option but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things you can do to feel and look better. A very popular combination of surgical and non-surgical treatments Petro recommends is her “Petro Petite Lift,” which is a minimini facelift . This is for patients who have moderate “jowling,” that results in a “sad” look. Many of these patients feel and are asked if they’re sad because the corner of the mouth appears to be turned down. This can be very frustrating because adding filler such as Juvederm to this area is not typically successful. If you added enough filler to change the appearance of the mouth, the face would appear square. This petite lift is designed to specifically target these folds. The Petro Petite Lift is often combined with non-surgical treatments, like Botox, Halo (Laser Resurfacing), ThermiTight, & if there is a “double chin” we use CoolSculpting. Botox can be used to raise the brow, and elimate the “furrow” in-between the brow, that can make you look angry. Halo is a hybrid- first of its kind laser that can be used on the neck, around the mouth, hands, virtually anywhere. ThermiTight is a skin-tightening treatment that uses radiofrequency to tighten sagging skin. CoolSculpting can be used to treat a “double chin.” Liposuction of the neck typically requires a full facelift because it loosens the skin, Coolsculpting preserves the integrity of the skin. By combining treatments you can have less surgery, less downtime, and results that leave you looking like you used to, not like someone else.
Dr. Melanie Petro is double board certified in Otolaryngology & Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and procedures are performed in her AAAHC Accredited operating room.

To make your divorce go more smoothly for you and your children.

1. Learn to compromise.
I know this is easier said than done, but often to make things go easier, you will need to put aside some hurts and compromise with your spouse. That doesn’t mean you are any less angry with them, it just means you’re more concerned about you and your kid’s long term welfare than any anger you might feel toward your spouse. If your lawyer can work out a reasonable settlement for you, you should consider it very seriously before pushing it away. Dragging the process out forever only to have a stranger in a black robe decide your future for you isn’t always your best option.
lawyer in town”, you need to find a lawyer who is a good fit for your personal situation. When you interview a lawyer you should ask whether they are experienced handling cases such as yours and also how they would go about handling your case in particular. By asking these questions, you can find someone who has the experience you need and someone you feel comfortable working with. Look for red flags such as attorneys who bad mouth other attorneys you’ve met or who start making promises on your outcome. A good, ethical family law attorney isn’t so desperate for business to resort to these slimy tactics to get your case.
2. You might get divorced but you’ll still always be parents.
4. Take care of yourself and realize that this will pass.
Before you start a scorched earth campaign against your soon to be ex, think about the repercussions as it relates to your children. Like it or not, your children will always be a tie that binds you together. Dragging them into the middle of your divorce unnecessarily will only hurt them and make your job of co-parenting in the future that much harder if you make them resent the other parent.
3. Find a lawyer who matches your needs.
More important than just going out and hiring the “baddest
Know that getting divorced isn’t the end of your life and it doesn’t make you a failure. While it’s likely to be painful in the short haul just know that this too shall pass. Don’t shut yourself off from the world and let it rob you of your identity during your divorce. Spend time with friends and family, work out, get out, and do some things you like. Yes, you’re getting divorced; however, it doesn’t have to rule your life or define who you are. Divorce is only one chapter in your life, how the rest of your book reads is still up to you.
