Barganier obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree (History) from Birmingham- Southern College, and his law degree from Miles College School of Law, Birmingham, Alabama. Lloyd Gathings founded Gathings Law more than 20 years ago on the basic concept that every person, regardless of social or economic status, is entitled to receive the best representation in court and a level playing field when they enter the litigation arena. Other lawyers, both in Alabama and across the country, have recognized the expertise of Gathings Law and have associated Gathings Law to serve as lead counsel in thousands of cases. Gathings Law has obtained many recoveries for its clients in excess of a million dollars, as well as recoveries in the multimillions. dossier For as long as Hube Dodd can remember, there has been one thing that has defined him as a person. “Standing up for folks…fighting on behalf of people and causes I believe in.” He channeled his desire to combat injustice into a successful law practice. He left his position as managing partner at his previous firm to found The Dodd Law Firm in 2010. Dodd specializes in civil, criminal and administrative litigation. Oftentimes his clients come to him in their darkest hour, in need of not just guidance but support as they navigate through tough times. “They need someone to stand up for them”, Dodd says. “They each have a unique story, but don’t know how to tell it within the context of the legal system.” That’s where The Dodd Law Firm shines. “I partner with very talented attorneys across the state to ensure that every client gets exactly the expertise they need and the attention they deserve. My clients come to me seeking expertise, compassion and justice. My love of practicing law comes from delivering results.” His passion for practicing law has served his clients well. He was named managing partner of a firm after less than eight years of practice. He received his AV rating after less than 10 years of practicing law. Superlawyers named him a Rising Star for the last 2 years. He has already represented former Birmingham mayor Bernard Kincaid, Eric Rudolph and several international pharmacies. He has tried federal white-collar cases involving millions of dollars, and represented lawyers, pharmacists and nurses in administrative hearings before their respective state boards. He teaches continuing education CLE courses to other attorneys on DUI law and has co-authored a practice manual on the subject. Whatever his clients’ needs, Hube Dodd stands ready to serve them.

and other search engines for the keywords, “Birmingham Lawyers” and other commonly searched legal terms. Searches come from both Alabama and across the United States, from individuals, businesses, corporations, schools, governments, oil companies, insurance companies, health systems, and more, all searching for a lawyer in the Birmingham, Alabama area. “Even Lexis Nexis uses the website,” Walsh says. And all of the websites display and function the same on tablets and other mobile devices, as they do on desktops and laptops. Walsh has years of experience in niche, local Internet marketing. She founded other local verticals: restaurants, weddings and medical, based on this same, award-winning model. Her original restaurants vertical, which began with BirminghamRestaurants.com was the first to be replicated in another city market with MontgomeryRestaurants. com. The lawyers’ vertical has also been replicated in Montgomery with MontgomeryLawyers.com and in Huntsville with HuntsvilleLawyers.com. The Montgomery County Bar Association and the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association have partnered with LocalLawyers.com as local association partners in those geographic areas, offering special benefits to their members. MobileLawyers.com will be the next Local Lawyers website, with a Spring 2012 launch and association partner announcement planned.
“Taking a successful website and replicating it geographically, scaling it across various markets—while employing data analytics to create immediate business value—is not a one-woman show,” Walsh says. “It is a combination of the right people and the most innovative of technologies.” LocalLawyers.com’s Director of Content and Design, Richard Phillips has been instrumental in the success of Local Lawyers and Walsh’s other businesses. Walsh first met Phillips— and quickly recognized his creative talent and work ethic—as her 6th Grade English and writing student in 1993, at Oneonta City Schools. Years later, after graduating
from Auburn University with a degree in graphic design, Phillips’ creative contributions, tireless energy and longtime loyalty became paramount in the development of Walsh’s companies. In addition to Phillips, other key members of Local Lawyers include editor, Caitlin Cornelison and Walsh’s son, Ross McCay— who works in many aspects of the business. Associated Benefits Group’s Bill Koepsel, in North Alabama, and Tommy Bone, in South Alabama manage law firm membership sign ups and subscriptions. Yet without the technology, they all realize there would be no web products.
Designed for replication and scalability, Local Lawyers is built on the id360™ platform. This technology was developed by Teksouth Inc.’s commercial operations. Capabilities include socially equipped websites, which are designed to rapidly replicate into local and niche markets, infinitely scale without redesign or rework, and easily exploit the data-rich back-end environment with robust data management and analytics. Walsh and her tech partner, Teksouth’s CEO, Steve Wilsher plan to further employ this tech platform for Local Lawyers’ future websites in other Southeastern states.

Trust, Respect and Results. The foundation of our society is built on trust. We trust other drivers to follow the rules of the road. We trust manufacturers to follow established safety standards. We trust financial advisors and consultants to honestly lead us and protect our financial interests. We trust insurance companies to pay our claims after we have faithfully paid our premiums. And when that trust is violated, we expect the wrongdoer to make good. If we can’t reach a resolution on our own, it sometimes helps to consult a lawyer. But not just any lawyer. You want a lawyer that you respect and that you can trust – someone with extensive experience handling the kind of case you are facing. You’ll find that kind of lawyer at Taylor & Taylor, where we’ve represented plaintiffs in wrongful death, car and trucking accident, personal injury, product liability, bad faith and fraud cases for more than 40 years.

What we know: We know that being among the ten firms in the U.S. with the most first-tier rankings overall for two consecutive years is worthy of celebration. We know that we got there in part because of the 153 attorneys we have listed in The Best Lawyers in America®. We know it also helped that 63% of our partners were among them. We know that, national rankings notwithstanding, we must earn the respect of our clients every day. We know that, while we celebrate today, tomorrow is another opportunity to prove ourselves worthy of this recognition.
That’s what we know.

Where Medicine and Law Converge:
Practicing as both a surgeon and an attorney presents unique challenges in an ever increasing complex medical-legal landscape. Whether its taking on a healthcare insurance company who has refused to pay for a cancer treatment, dealing with multiple injuries from a terrible trucking accident, representing a physician whose privileges were revoked without merit, representing patients who received medical care that fell below the national standard of care, protecting the right of patients that have been injured by pharmacological products or medical devices, or insuring that the highest standards are maintained in the care of our increasing elderly population, Dr. Francois Blaudeau with the Riley & Jackson Law Firm is an advocate for the citizens of our community. A nationally recognized expert in law and medicine Dr. Blaudeau brings a direct focus on issues that effect his clients while maintaining the highest standard of integrity.

With over 12 years practicing law, Burt Newsome is recognized as an expert in assisting banks in reducing charge-offs, repossessing collateral, obtaining payoffs on non-accrual and poorly rated credits, and getting recoveries on charge-off loans. His current clients include among others: Merchants and Farmers Bank, Aliant Bank, Renasant Bank, Mortgage Corporation of the South, Kirkland Financial, Bryant Bank and IBERIABANK. “That fact that I worked in the banking industry causes me to stand out in my field,” Newsome says. “I know the background of a bank. I know the issues and the challenges they are grappling with to be profitable.” A typical case might involve a bank’s client, a small corporation that can’t make loan payments. Newsome’s firm helps the bank determine businesses viability, obtains additional collateral for the debt and re-structures the loan. The business survives and the bank is paid back. It works for everyone. Newsome’s practice has grown with the proliferation of smaller community banks. “Often, the smaller banks don’t have departments for our areas of concentration. So, they come to us knowing we have that unique perspective.” Newsome’s firm also offers clients a staff of knowledgeable, down to earth professionals. “We don’t act like they are lucky to have us. We treat them like we truly appreciate their business. And, we do.” In addition, Newsome Law represents banks in claims against title insurance companies.

WHAT ARE MARTINDALE-HUBBELL® PEER REVIEW RATINGS™? The Martindale-Hubbell® PEER REVIEW RATINGS™ are an objective indicator of a lawyer's high ethical standards and professional ability, generated from evaluations of lawyers by other members of the bar and the judiciary in the United States and Canada. The first review to establish a lawyer's rating usually occurs three years after his/her first admission to the bar. LexisNexis facilitates secure online Martindale-Hubbell® PEER REVIEW RATINGS™ surveys of lawyers across multiple jurisdictions and geographic locations, in similar areas of practice as the lawyer being rated. Reviewers are asked to assess their colleagues' general ethical standards and legal ability in a specific area of practice. The ratings appear in all formats of the MartindaleHubbell® Law Directory, in the online listings on martindale.com, Lawyers.comSM, on the LexisNexis services, on LN mobile apps. Your Martindale-Hubbell® PEER REVIEW RATINGS™ can also be displayed on your LinkedIn® profile via the LinkedIn® Lawyers Ratings Application.

Martindale-Hubbell® PEER REVIEW RATINGS™ reflect a combination of achieving a Very High General Ethical Standards rating and a Legal Ability numerical rating. A threshold number of responses is required to achieve a rating. The General Ethical Standards rating denotes adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities. Those lawyers who meet the "Very High" criteria of General Ethical Standards can proceed to the next step in the ratings process - Legal Ability. Legal Ability ratings are based on performance in five key areas, rated on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest). These areas are: Legal Knowledge: Lawyer's familiarity with the laws governing his/her specific area of practice(s) Analytical Capabilities: Lawyer's creativity in analyzing legal issues and applying technical knowledge Judgment: Lawyer's demonstration of the salient factors that drive the outcome of a given case or issue. Communication Ability: Lawyer's capability to communicate persuasively and credibly Legal Experience: Lawyer's degree of experience in his/her specific area of practice(s) The numeric ratings range may coincide with the appropriate Certification Mark: AV Preeminent (4.5-5.0)- AV Preeminent is a significant rating accomplishment - a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence. BV Distinguished (3.0-4.4) - BV Distinguished is an excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. A widely respected mark of achievement, it differentiates a lawyer from his or her competition Rated (1.0-2.9) - The Peer Review Rated designation demonstrates that the lawyer has met the very high criteria of General Ethical Standing.

A word from one of our clients: “I cannot say enough good things about this company, the professional quality of their work, the professionalism of their staff, and the hands on, friendly, reliable service they render with old fashioned Alabama courtesy. I have watched with pleasure the company grow by leaps and bounds over the past several years, I attribute such growth in part to the description I just set out, but also to its ability to harness large resources and invest in cutting edge technology to always stay ahead of the curve. I have personal knowledge of lawyers throughout the state who regularly use Freedom: from the largest firms in the state to sole practitioners and smaller firms in the less populated cities and towns.”
