Leila H. Watson Cory Watson Attorneys Leila H. Watson has dedicated her life to helping people through the law. It began when she was a social work student evaluating children with developmental, physical, and mental disabilities. The mother of a little boy who was a patient at the clinic gave Watson a legal brief about her son. After reading the brief, she knew that the lawyer who wrote it was doing much more to help that boy than she ever could as a social worker. At that moment, Watson decided to go to law school. Watson has practiced with Ernest Cory, co-founder of Cory Watson Attorneys, for over 35 years. As a young lawyer, Cory convinced her to handle cases on subjects she knew nothing about, saying, “It’s not what you don’t know, it’s all about what you can learn.” So, Watson learned things like how to drive a tractor-trailer truck, set up a fuse box, maintain a hospital record, sell life insurance, and a host of other skills to better present her cases at trial. She has worked on precedent-setting cases with state and national implications. Watson represented Jett Williams and proved that Jett is the natural daughter of famous singer and songwriter, Hank Williams, Sr., and in the process, updated Alabama law so no other heir would have to shoulder the burden of finding their inheritance on their own. Watson also obtained the first double-digit, million-dollar wrongful death verdict in Alabama—$15,000,000. Watson’s legal skills and passion for studying the law are well recognized by her colleagues. In 2016, Watson was elected President of the Birmingham Bar Association. She served as the chair of the Alabama Association for Justice Amicus Curiae Brief Committee for years, steering the committee that selects and writes appellate briefs on issues of importance to ALAJ members.
While Watson is a passionate and dedicated lawyer, she is also a family-oriented woman who loves to volunteer. She and her family are highly involved in the community, supporting local charities that focus on children’s education and health and making Birmingham a great place to raise a family. Watson loves to cook and is always looking forward to her weekly Sunday night dinner with friends and family.

AshLeigh Meyer Dunham Magic City Law, LLC AshLeigh Meyer Dunham is one of the founding partners of Magic City Law, LLC. Upon graduating from Cumberland
School of Law, she joined a firm with over 20 years of family law experience. After gaining experience at that firm, Dunham relocated to Birmingham. As a result of her passion for families and the Magic City, she co-founded Magic City Law, LLC, an all-female boutique family law firm focusing on adoption, ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) representation, divorce, and child custody. Dunham began her career with the intention of focusing on adoption but soon expanded her advocacy to include any aspect a family may need assistance with in the area of family law. Dunham’s approach to advocacy is tailored to benefit the entire family, as a unit, even if they are no longer living in the same household. It is the goal of Dunham and Magic City Law to help Magic City families move forward. Although Dunham works throughout the field of family law, her focus has circled back to building families. She has handled many adoptions throughout the state and has recently expanded her practice to include ART representation. In the midst of an uphill battle with her own infertility adventure, Dunham has become more active in the area of ART representation. She understands the language, the financial burden, the pain of waiting, and the process that each family must go through in order to grow their family. She understands what her clients are facing and has used this effectively to represent her clients with expertise, empathy, and compassion. Aside from her work with her clients, she is actively involved with the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. She is also a member of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association and a member of the Bessemer Bar Association.

All of his clients have his personal cell number to reach him anytime, and Abbott prides himself on client service and satisfaction. “My clients can talk to me like they are talking to their neighbor, says Abbott, and in the end, my goal is to help them ‘out-lawyer’ the other side…” Abbott has “two children, a cool ex-wife and a smoking hot girlfriend.” In his spare time, he enjoys college football, hunting/ fishing, playing the drums, cold beer and he appears often to “enjoy a good rock show” at many of Birmingham’s live music venues. Jessica Powers has a history of success, from her days as an All-American athlete to her wins in the courtroom. Her confidence is the result of her fearless attitude and her tenacity. “I’m hard charging and I am driven to win- which often requires fighting long, hard battles. I am relentless by nature and it’s served me well as a litigator.” Jessica started Powers Injury Law in 2016 to offer clients a small firm experience while dealing with major life events that can be scary to navigate. “ When a person or a loved one has been injured, the last thing they want to do is worry about the legal side of things. I started a firm that puts the client first and makes the process less difficult, which begins with communication and trust.”

ATTENTION MILITARY MEMBERS THAT SERVED BETWEEN 2003 TO 2015 The DiLorenzo Law Firm, LLC is now representing current and former military members who were issued 3M Combat Arms ear plugs during combat and training exercises from 2003 to 2015 and now suffer from tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or hearing loss. Specifically, we think that 3M Corporation, the manufacturer of the Combat Arms ear plugs, likely knew that the ear plugs were defective but continued to sell them to the U.S. Government anyway. These lawsuits do not allege any wrongdoing against the U.S. Government or military – only against the ear plug manufacturer, 3M. Moreover, we are filing individual lawsuits on behalf of each soldier injured by these ear plugs, not a class action. If you or a family member served in a military combat zone between 2003 to 2015 and used the dual-sided 3M ear plugs shown here, please contact our law firm as soon as possible so that we can discuss your legal options with no cost or obligation to you.
