DID YOU KNOW...?
Jodrell Bank Observatory’s founder, Sir Bernard Lovell had a passion for trees and was responsible for the planting of our 35 acres of arboretum.
The extensive gardens and grounds around Jodrell Bank have transformed the land into a haven for wildlife. Look out for our bird boxes and bug hotels.
What can you do to enhance the natural environment around you? Visit the Space Pavilion to make your Planet Pledge.
DID YOU KNOW...?
The Planet Pavilion CafĂŠ uses local and sustainably grown produce. Our potatoes are grown just 5 minutes away using sustainable farming techniques and we are able to pinpoint the exact location of every farmer that supplies our meat. What can you do to ensure that what your food is not just good for you but also good for the environment? Visit the Space Pavilion to make your Planet Pledge.
DID YOU KNOW...?
The Lovell Telescope was built using recycled materials including steel from decommissioned ships. The bearings that turn the telescope in elevation were from two WWI warships, HMS Royal Sovereign and HMS Revenge. What can you do to recycle old items to create new things? Visit the Space Pavilion to make your Planet Pledge.
DID YOU KNOW...?
We’ve been working hard to reduce single-use plastics in the Planet Pavilion CafÊ. Our butcher now delivers all our meat wrapped in paper, our fresh produce is delivered in re-usable containers and we never give out plastic cutlery or straws. What can you do to reduce your use of plastics? Visit the Space Pavilion to make your Planet Pledge.
