technology for your security
DURABILITY OF ROPES The durability of a rope depends above all on the way it is used, but also on numerous technical factors: The quality of yarn used ; the compactness of the rope ; its suppleness ; the braiding of the filaments of the sheath ; their twist ; their number ; the number of braids… One other factor plays a particularly important role: the thickness of the sheath. You can check the quantity of sheath in BEAL ropes thanks to the percentage shown at the side of this pictogram.
An astonishing process, bonding rope sheath and core without affectingthe rope’s suppleness. Even in the hardest conditions of use sheath slippage is suppressed. If the sheath is cut or torn, core and sheath remain bonded together. With a standard rope, if the sheath is cut by abrasion over an edge, a frequent occurrence in work at height and in rescues, it slides andgathers over some metres. It then becomes impossible to pass this zone, either to ascend or to descend. If the problem occurs near to the end of the rope the sheath may slide off completely, and the user fall to the ground. With the UNICORE process the sheath remains in place and the user may escape, either by descent or ascent, taking all necessary precautions. He/she is not stuck without a solution on the rope.
L IFETIME OF BEAL METALLIC PPE The lifetime of metal PPE is not limited. Attention :
Bonded core and sheath
The UNICORE process brings an undeniable gain in security during delicate and dangerous operations ; its advantages are many:
Classical rope
Classical rope
Classical rope

This is the potential lifetime in use. A metal item of PPE may be destroyed during its very first use. It’s inspection and control which determine if the product must be scrapped earlier. Between uses, appropriate storage is essential.
L ifetime of BEAL plastic and textile PPE 5 YEARS STORAGE TIME In good storage conditions plastic and textile BEAL PPE may be stored for up to 5 years before first use, without affecting their future lifetime in use.
10 YEARS LIFETIME IN USE It allows escape if the sheath has been cut.
It allows temporary cutting of rope lengths with a knife, without melting the ends, without fraying of the sheath.
It prevents sheath slippage.
It reduces shrinkage in water by more than 50 %.
The potential lifetime of plastic and textile BEAL PPE in use is up to a maximum of 10 years.

NFC is a new standard in RFID chips, ultra compact and flat, compatible with most new generation Smartphones. By bringing your phone close to the NFC chip, information relating to the item of PPE can be accessed directly and wirelessly without the need for specific software, similar to wireless payments which are already becoming commonplace. All PPE equipped with a TIP label can accommodate a NFC chip to allow kit management via smartphone.
Beal Color Code
It is possible, through special order, to personalise certain helmets, harnesses and BEAL bags with your company’s logo or other information required for your activities. This personalisation can be made to be reflective to provide additional safety. www.beal-pro.com
BEAL slings, pre-cut ropes and lanyards are either embroidered or have a line of stitching which -dependant on the colour useddepicts the year of manufacture of the product.
TIP
Traceability, Identification, Personalisation The colour of the internal thread identifies the year of manufacture.
Harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, ropes with sewn terminations are supplied with a TIP label (traceability, identification and personalisation). TIP allows you to identify an item by writing your name and personalising the unique number of your PPE. The TIP also has a QR code and web link to instantly access the item’s logbook online, promoting its management. It equally allows for a new generation RFID chip, called NFC, to be stuck to the label as an add-on.

north sea 11 mm Type
Specially developed in collaboration with one of the principal oil companies for use in difficult conditions on oil rigs. Great handling and maximum durability.
Security rope which conforms to 2 standards, both the semi-static and the dynamic rope standards. It’s thus a classic semi-static rope well adapted to various types of work on ropes, to rescue, and to tactical applications. In event of a very violent fall an internal Vectran ‘fuse’ will rupture, and the rope then becomes dynamic, with all the security that characterises dynamic ropes. The fuse will rupture under a force of around 3 kN. In addition, DYNASTAT resists a fall factor 1 drop holding 100 kg over a sharp metal edge of 0.75 mm radius. Ideal for delicate operations at height, pylon climbing, clock towers, rescue and fast technical intervention.

Floating type A semi-static rope for work at height above water (off-shore wind farms, oil rigs). It can also be used for swift water rescues. A new patented technique allows PRO WATER 11 mm to become the first floating semi-static type A rope on the market. Thanks to limited shrinking in water, its suppleness is maintained and knots remain easy to tie. In case of an operative falling into water, boat based emergency services can easily see this orange rope which, because of its floatability, is unlikely to get tangled in propellers. PRO WATER rope benefits from all the advantages of UNICORE technology thus giving it a real increase in security.

EFFECT OF HIGH TEMPERATURES ON ARAMID
Strength with sewn terminations
The resistance of Aramid to high temperatures is best illustrated by the graph illustrating the residual strength after exposure to raised temperatures. Thus we may for example see that after 10 hours of exposure at 200° C it retains 100 % of its strength, or that after 1 hour at 350° C it retains 90 % of its strength.

Short lengths of rope with sewn terminations for constructing self-locking (prusik) loops. These ropes have a 50 % aramid construction intermixed with polyester filaments. Prusiks made from classic ropes have a very short life, because they glaze in use due to the effect of friction. The presence of 50 % of highly thermally resistant aramid fibres in VOLCANO protect it against melting and thus greatly increases its lifetime. Available in 10 and 12 mm, and 70 and 90 cm lengths, to suit different types of knots. The 10 mm VOLCANO also comes in cut lengths: - In multiples of 10 cm. - Maximum length 200 cm. - Minimum 50 pieces per length.
Per fo r m a n c es
Made along the same lines as the BAOBAB, its thinner diameter makes a lighter rope, more supple and easier to handle than BAOBAB. It benefits from a new, glueless procedure for bonding the sheath onto the core, preventing all slippage, but still allowing splices to be made.

Strong points
This harness benefits from new technology in the PRO range: WEB CORE technology provides exceptional levels of comfort thanks to optimal pressure distribution on hips and thighs. WEB CORE is a wide, thin and lightweight piece of webbing laser cut to the shape of the harness. This results in a more compact, lightweight and above all more comfortable harness.
ergonomic construction allows a large range of movement. low position of the ventral attachment point yields maximum progression when ascending ropes, whilst its large diameter provides the space for multiple connection to be made i.e. ascenders, connectors, descender and lanyards. • Two ways of attaching equipment: - A large ring provides the space for multiple karabiners and lanyards to be connected and accessed easily during a rescue. - Two textile attachment points for connecting lanyards metallic devices on both sides of the ring. • 2 lateral attachment points EN 358. • 1 dorsal attachment point for winching. • A handle can be fitted at the back for rescue use. • 5 gear organisers, 4 gear loops and 6 fabric loops to connect parts of the WORK STATION range. • R eplaceable rear elastics on leg loops.

LOCKING CONNECTOR twin gate Twin Gate is a revolutionary concept for locking a karabiner, patented by Grivel/Simond It is incredibly simple and can be worked using just one hand. Unintentional opening is nearly impossible. In addition, the locking mechanism cannot become jammed. 2 versions are available: • A solid and wire gate combination which open in opposite directions. •Two solid gates which open in opposite directions.

Strong points
safety features: the anti-panic function is triggered and stops the descent immediately when the user pulls the handle too abruptly; the descent is automatically stopped when the user lets go of the handle. •T hick metal in high friction areas helps to increase the device’s lifetime in high use environment. •T he handle allows the rate of descent to be finely controlled and its 360 degree rotation facilitates its use. Its aluminium body is covered with a grip enhancing material. In addition, an audible clicking sound accompanies the handle’s rotation to help the user to identify the handle’s correct position. •T he device is locked using a metal button which prevents it from accidentally opening whilst ascending a rope. •M ovement along horizontal or low incline surfaces is made easy by simply controlling the cam with your thumb. •T he D4’s maximum working load is 240 kg. It is therefore suitable for rescues with a two-man load, without having to introduce additional friction. •T he D4 can be used with 10.5 to 11.5mm diameter ropes.

attrac’tool
An extendable gear loop allowing tools to remain attached whilst in use.
A magnetic plate that allows you to temporarily attach a leash secured tool to an appropriate metal surface.
Consists of two sections
The ATTRAC’TOOL can be fixed to a belt or shoulder strap of the HERO PRO harness or to the small gear loops of a harness, BUCKET or TOOL BELT.
- An extendable spiral cord that attaches to the TOOL-BUCKET, GLASS BUCKET, LONG TOOL BUCKET, to the HERO PRO, SYNCRO and STYX harness, or the AIR-SIT work seat. - A gear loop that connects to the end of the spiral cord. This is designed to attach tools by means of a girth hitch or slipknot (it is important you select an attachment method appropriate for the specific tool).
NEW
When fitted to a harness’ waist belt, a strap can be clipped around the thigh to stop the magnet from lifting up when picking up the tool. The strap can also be used to hang the ATTRAC’TOOL from a railing.
A reinforced webbing loop on the gear loop allows the tool to be clipped to the harness using a karabiner between uses
MAGNETIC
The ATTRAC’TOOL is modular and can be positioned both vertically and horizontally depending on the tools used and the working environment.

ROPE PROTECTORS
ROPE PROTECTORS
Protector
Hot-Protector
Rope defender
A rope can wear very rapidly over a sharp edge. To protect it, use the PROTECTOR, an ultra-solid rope protector made of two layers of coated material.
Made of glass fibre and aluminium, the HOT PROTECTOR is a patented rope protector resistant to heat, welding spatter, angle grinder, or a blowlamp flame - for a short time. Placement is facilitated by a magnetic closure.
Flexible sleeve made from coiled steel which serves to protect ropes from sharp edges. Thanks to its flexibility, it adapts to all angles. The spirals that are in contact with the edge squeeze together under the rope’s movement therefore ensuring total protection. The steel sleeve is virtually indestructible. Its reinforced rubber protecting cover exists as a separate part and may be easily replaced.
Length: 70 cm Weight: 150 g
Strong points:
Strong points:
• Increased resistance to heat. • Easy to close thanks to its magnets. • Can be independently positioned on hot metal surfaces.
• Virtually indestructible steel sleeve. • Removable protective cover.

Croco
Rope protector in stainless steel to protect a rope moving over a sharp edge.
Universal clamp to secure different rope protectors onto a rope. The CROCO replaces the use of cord with a Prusik loop and other temporary attachment methods. Fitted with a cable and a small karabiner, it attaches easily to any rope protector on the market. Being independent of the rope protector, the CROCO can be reused when the rope protector has to be replaced.
Ref : BPRH

Strong points:
• Modulable - can be linked together with maillon rapides. • Secure with 2 cords (supplied). • 2 side plates prevent the rope from leaving the rail.
Weight: 300 g
Rope Armour
Rope protector reinforced on both sides by a tape for better abrasion resistance. Installation facilitated by a magnetic closure.
A patented woven metal sheath, serving to protect the rope or lanyard from edges or sharp tools. This supple armour is much more durable and effective than conventional rope protectors. The ROPE ARMOUR has to be fixed around the rope, then positioned along it where protection is necessary: metal edges, roof corners, where there could be contact with angle grinders, drills… Compact in store or when positioning on the rope, it lengthens after being put in place.
Strong points:
• Increased abrasion resistance. • Easy to close thanks to its magnets. • May be independently positioned on metallic surfaces.
Length: 70 cm Weight: 260 g

headlamps - settings
Headlamps
MODES
For professionals to have effective lighting in all circumstances a simple long and straight light beam does not suffice, as in many situations a broad and homogenous beam is equally required.
Every light source has multiple settings; in addition to a powerful and an economic setting some models also feature medium and flashing settings.
BEAL’s range
• Maximum mode: the most powerful setting, providing an effective and intense output between 2 and 4 hours.
To better respond to the needs of some of the most demanding users, from electricians to rope access technicians, BEAL’s range uses multiple independent light sources on the majority of its models. In contrast to using a single light source, this solution allows for a source to be dedicated to an intended use. As a result some headlamp models have up to 3 independent light sources!
• Medium mode: the most favourable setting offering a compromise between light output and energy management. • Economic mode: this setting, with an output between 5 and 6.5 lumens, generates minimal consumption for a very long burn time. • Flashing mode: this setting works on the central light source or RED source and helps to draw attention when needed. The combination of light sources and various modes allows for perfect adjustments to suit the needs of your night vision, which at the same time results in excellent energy management. • TOTAL POWER Mode: a combination of both Flood and Focus modes, thus providing with a zoom, long reach output cumulated with a proximity wide output.
Optics Whether it is due to the lens or reflector, every LED is constructed from the highest quality in optical materials in order to emit an even and homogenous light beam. Swivelling optical body: all BEAL headlamps feature an articulated optical body which allows the light beam to be swivelled as required.
SOURCES Source N° 1 : A central LED, known as ‘FOCUS’, emits a far reaching and precise narrow beam. Source N° 2 : Lateral LEDs, known as ‘FLOOD’, emit light to allow comfortable and uniform peripheral vision without bright spots. Source N° 3 : Red LEDs, known as ‘RED’, allow for discreet lighting or efficient signalling in flashing mode. Every light source is thus dedicated to a particular use: ‘FOCUS’ to see far, ‘FLOOD’ for immediate surroundings and ‘RED’ for discretion in its constant mode or signalling in its flashing mode.
Individual Number
optical
DEPENDING ON THE LAMP, BEAL USES TWO DISTINCT TECHNOLOGIES: 1 • CLASSIC POWER : Conventional unregulated electronic circuit where output decreases over time but with the advantage of long burn times. 2 • CONTINUOUS POWER : Regulated electronic circuits allow for multiple constant output levels to suit the user’s preference. Depending on the chosen mode, constant lighting is provided between 2 and several hours.
BEAL head lamps are separated into 2 ranges
‘SPEED-SHIFT’ BATTERY REPLACEMENT
which indicate the key features of each one: • The L range - light and compact head torches • The F.F range - torches with a minimum of two light sources: ‘FOCUS’ and ‘FLOOD’
On models that feature battery compartments at the rear of the head, batteries can easily be changed with one hand by using the spare waterproof container. A clever ejection and locking system ensures waterproofness.
L. range

The number after the range indicates the maximum output in lumen: L28: Light + 28 lumens. F.F. 120: FOCUS & FLOOD + 120 lumens. F.F. range

A lighting concept that ensures you are seen in all conditions.
Strong points:
Two WHITE and FLASHING light sources, FRONT and REAR, to which reflective side straps are added to provide 360 degrees of high visibility during night-time interventions.
• Front and rear lighting provides 360 degrees of visibility. • A flashing beam ensures you are seen, a constant beam lights up the path ahead. • Two light sources: 1 at the front and 1 at the rear. • White light for fair weather visibility. • Red light for poor weather visibility, rain or fog. • Reflective strips give side on visibility. • Burn time: 115h in front flashing mode and 80h in rear flashing mode.
L 24
L 28
It consists of two light sources: a L28 head torch at the FRONT with an L24 head torch at the rear. It also features a reflective fluorescent band for additional visibility from the sides.
With a surprising output of 24 lumens for its small size, this is the lightest in the ‘Light’ series. This ultra-light and compact headlamp has all the advantages of a larger variant: 2 independent light sources and 5 operation modes! • Source N° 1: A powerful LED with an exterior reflector for a focused and far reaching beam. - Maximum mode: for a focused and powerful light output up to 22 m of the ‘FOCUS’ variety. - E conomical mode for the maximum burn time up to 72 hours. - Flashing mode allowing efficient signalling in case of an emergency. • Source N° 2: 2 red LEDs. - Constant mode for discreet night vision (reading, mountain huts,…). - Flashing mode to draw attention. Multiple fitting methods: - Directly to the head using the 2 easily detachable elasticated cords. - To a cap using the spring-loaded clamp. - To the rear of another headtorch’s elasticated head strap for effective rear signalling in the work yard, whether it is poorly lit or not lit at all.
Light (70 g), compact but most of all very comfortable to use.
The WHITE and RED lighting modes can be used to adapt to any weather conditions: white for fair weather and red for fog or drizzle. A FLASHING beam ensures you are seen whilst the CONSTANT beam lights up the path ahead.
- 3 LEDs with built in reflector and lens. - Maximum mode for a reach of 27 m also gives excellent peripheral vision of the ‘FLOOD’ variety. - Medium mode for comfortable use and a good compromise between light output and energy consumption. - Economical mode for a maximum burn time. - Flashing mode to draw attention where needed.
With its contemporary design, the Be Visi meets all your requirements thanks to its modular nature. The L24 is separate from the headband, meaning you can also attach it to a collar, sleeve, hem of a jacket, shorts pocket, bag or belt!
- A weight of 70 g. - The elastic head strap is easily removable and washable. The L24 can be attached to the rear. Exceptional water resistance: IPX6
- The two Lithium Ion batteries may be stored up to 10 years without deterioration. - Weight 29 g including batteries. Exceptional water resistance: IPX6
