INTRODUCING INTRACEUTICALS Intraceuticals is an Australian company founded in 2002 as a result of research into various applications for oxygen. Development of the Intraceuticals Treatment known as the “Oxygen Facial�, has been a revolution in the professional skincare market. INTRACEUTICALS TECHNOLOGY OXYGEN Intraceuticals combined the extraordinary benefits of refined Hyperbaric Oxygen with cosmetic skincare to develop the Intraceuticals Treatment. SERUM Based on research conducted by leading universities in Australia, Intraceuticals developed a serum to work synergistically with hyperbaric oxygen. When the serum is professionally administered using the propriety Intraceuticals Face and Body System, the serum provides instant visible results plumping and hydrating the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. METHOD The Intraceuticals Treatment application method utilises Hyperbaric Oxygen to promote the delivery of Intraceuticals serums to the skin. The first stop on my stress-less express trip is the stunning Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa, about a 35-minute boat ride from Male airport. Although there are 110 villas and suites to choose from, the resort feels super-exclusive thanks to the luxe details (private outdoor bath) and truly personalised service (let them know your favourite music before you arrive and they’ll even make a playlist just for your bungalow). In between swims, you can tuck into fresh island fare or, better yet, hit the kitchen yourself at the Spice Spoons Cooking School. In fact, there’s stacks to do here if you’re up for it (think: learning to surf on world-class reef breaks, visiting a local village, spending the day cruising the islands) but the chilling here is in a league of its own.

Dhigu is connected to its neighbouring resort, the adults-only Anantara Veli Resort & Spa, by a handy pontoon – so you can move between the two easily. Dhigu’s overwater spa offers everything from massage to facials, but for a more traditional experience head to Veli’s Sundari Ayurvedic Spa. Two treatments to try: 1 C o n s u l t a t i o n w i t h a n Ay u r v e d i c d o c t o r. In this 30-minute session, Dr Avinash Tiwari talks through the principles of Ayurvedic medicine then uses a series of techniques including iridology, pulse and a Q&A to diagnose your body type (or dosha). From there, he recommends meals, Ayurvedic treatments and exercises (as well as a take-home program and regular email follow-ups) to help you harness your energy. Intriguing and on-point.

You know you’re in the proper tropics when you land in the Maldives’ capital, Male, and find that even the airport has its own separate island. The Indian Ocean country is made up of 1190 isles but has a population of just 345,000 – so you have great odds of finding your own patch of aqua. Pair this natural playground with a growing number of seriously plush resorts and you can see why it’s becoming a primo relaxo spot.
relaxing 90-minute treatment combines Abyhanga massage (where herb-infused medicinal oils are applied firmly and rhythmically to the whole body) with Shirodhara (where a steady stream of medicinal oil is applied to the forehead, stimulating the mind and relieving stress). Expect to dribble – and to come out of there feeling at least 78 per cent saner than when you went in.
Next stop: Niyama
A short (and gloriously scenic) seaplane flight away lies Per Aquum Niyama. Oh lordy will you feast here. Along with a new cooking school, Niyama has several eateries to revive your tastebuds in jawdropping scenery. My picks: try the breakfast buffet at Blu for its Mediterranean vibe; have the degustation lunch at the underwater Subsix restaurant; and for dinner, head to Nest (built into the canopy of a Banyan tree) for an Asian spread, or tuck into a classic African feed at Tribal. Between feeds, the island has plenty of active opportunities, including snorkelling, fitness classes and all kinds of watersports. For less action and more relaxin’
Niyama’s Lime Spa is a world of its own, featuring both overwater bungalows and super-serene gardens. Each treatment starts with a fresh-lime infused foot scrub that’s as invigorating as it is refreshing. Two treatments to try: 1 A n n e Se m o n i n B o d y Sc u l p t This 90-minute anti-cellulite treatment is super-cool (literally). The therapist applies a body firming serum, anti-cellulite gel and a detoxing mask, then uses a “cryo ball” – ie, a super-cold massage tool – to help freeze the fat cells and even out any lumpy zones. A series of sessions is recommended, but after just one I had noticeably less jiggle in my jelly. 2 I n t r a ce u t ica l s Re j u ve n a t e Ox y g e n Fa c i a l The therapist uses pressurised oxygen to help apply a special serum (made up of vitamins, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and peptides) to remove the signs of stress from your skin. Coupled with the extractions, this onehour facial wasn’t entirely relaxing, but the sensation was cool and refreshing. And my skin looked brighter, firmer and a lot more toned… for days. Result.
While you’re in the ’hood, check out the spa at Per Aquum Huvafen Fushi. Here, treatments take place in an underwater chamber with windows looking out into a coral reef. The therapist even positions a mirror under the table so you can watch the fish through the head hole. Top it off with a meal at Raw restaurant for a clean, raw feed with a tropical twist – happiness by the forkful.
