Stride Treglown - Architectural Assistant - Gentleman’s Walk - Residential Refurbishment I was in the project team for Gentleman’s Walk, a refurbishment project that entailed a change of use from an office building to residential flats. I worked on this from the end of stage 2 through to stage 5. I was part of a small team so had a very good overview of the project and helped produce the majority of the drawings and documents. The project is now in stage 5 and I am still involved in the project when problems occur on site as well as attending meetings and site visits.

Stride Treglown - Architectural Assistant - National Maritime Museum - Storage & Conservation Studios With the same project team I have been working on a storage and conservation centre for The National Maritime Museum. The building will contain: an archive collections including various artefacts that require very stable conditions, an admin block, visitor centre and workshops for restoring and recording the artefacts. I have worked on this project from planning and tender.

Freelance Work - Hand Drawn Perspectives These sketch perspectives were produced for a global media company to aid in pitches to win international bids. The brief was to create office spaces that contained the relevant branding and company image whist giving a loose feel of the proposed offices.
Competition - ARKXSITE - Lake Baths
Undergraduate - Second Year - Le Cabanon - 1:1 Design and Build Project Le Cabanon was a design and build group studio project to explore a ‘meeting’ and ‘confession’ Cabanon. The result was a structurally sound multilevelled meeting space with areas for spoken and written confession. It was manufactured by hand using reclaimed materials from Bristol Wood Recycling Project, and materials scavenged elsewhere in Bristol.
Undergraduate - Third Year - Mixed Use Development The brief for the main architectural project in the penultimate year of undergraduate study was a mixed use scheme based in Bristol alongside the M32. The multicultural and diverse cultures of this area of Bristol led me to create a creative hub that combined offices, art and design studios, small cinema, meeting spaces and shops with a community run coffee shop, skate park and park. The aim of this mixed environment was to provide young people with a proximity to the tools and infrastructure so that they could learn business skills and develop careers in creative industries.
Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Concept Sketches The final project of my part 1 was to design a performance space in besides the river Avon in the city of Bath. After researching the needs of Bath and the surrounding site context I developed a brief for a music school with associated public music venues. The Brutalist proposal celebrates the creation and consumption of music through education and performance. The main focus of the brief was to design a classical concert hall, the largest of the schemes venues along with its ancillary spaces. Reflecting aspects of his life, the John Tavener Memorial Hall celebrates contemporary classical music in modern Bath.
Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Program and Spacial Arrangement Diagrams The adjacencies and grouping of the program uses resulted in a diagram that informed the masterplan for the site and the integration to the rest of the city. The massing of the site knits into the existing framework and patterns of the city whist creating new pubic space types, as well as opening the city up to the underutilised river waterfront. The masterplan and building uses informed the massing of the site.

Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Site Massing and Masterplanning
Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Massing Model
Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Acoustic Analysis & Building Services Engineering The architectural design process ran in conjunction with the building services design for the classical concert hall. The main focus of the building services engineering design with the room acoustics. This process led to the design of a theoretically functional auditorium. The key design move was to create an ‘egg in a box’ enclosed space. This meant full acoustic separation was needed and allowed the design freedom of situating a nightclub and roof garden on top of the concert space. The air conditioning and supply systems were designed to give the required cooling and fresh air supply whilst staying inaudible by the audience. The integration of heat exchangers and other engineering techniques to produce an environmentally sustainable system. With the use of ray tracing and a ripple tank the form of the auditorium was tested and finalised to provide the audience with the best acoustic experience.

Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Ripple Pool Acoustic Reflection Analysis
Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Atmosphere Sketch The size of the building was determined by the required dimensions of the auditorium. To utilise the building height a roof garden, terraces and connected night club wrapped up and over to utilise the new viewpoint over Bath. This resulted in the juxtaposition of two venues that aren’t often associated. A series of roof gardens stepping up away from the new recreation park enhanced the transition between the city centre and the natural corridor formed by the river Avon. The transition between the site and the city was also enhanced by linking existing routes with the creation of a new bridge, landscaping and building positions, thus bringing more footfall through the site.
Undergraduate - Final Year - Classical Concert Hall - Hand Drawn 1:1 Detail Section To start the technical resolution process I drew a section at 1:1 through the auditorium roof void to the dance floor of the night club. This enabled me to test the acoustic separation theory that allowed me bring these two venues together
