“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ” (Col 2:6-8).
“ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” (Psa 1:1-3).
“A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved” (Pro 12:3).
The security of the righteous; they are firmly planted and cannot be uprooted – they have deep roots”. The righteous are often compared to a tree (Pro 11:30;Ps 1:3, 92:13).
“As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation” (Pro 10:25). “Storm wind”, “Whirlwind” is used in prophetic passages that describe swift judgment and destruction. Stand firm equals everlasting foundation stresses the eternal security that the righteous have, the wicked have no such security.
Like trees planted by the water
