Ye Shall Receive Power
July 21,2024
“When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Act 1:6-8).
“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:9-13).
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Col 2:6-10)
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end” (Eph 3:17-21)
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” (1Co 1:18).
Come to the Light, sleep not in sin, in darkness, in separation from God, but prize your time while you have it, lest you come to say, you had time but now it is past; but mind the Power of God, the Light of Jesus.
~ George Fox ~
“"Assurance grows by repeated conflict, by our repeated experimental proof of the Lord's power and goodness to save; when we have been brought very low and helped, sorely wounded and healed, cast down and raised again, have given up all hope, and been suddenly snatched from danger, and placed in safety; and when these things have been repeated to us and in us a thousand times over, we begin to learn to trust simply to the word and power of God, beyond and against appearances: and this trust, when habitual and strong, bears the name of assurance; for even assurance has degrees.”
~ John Newton ~
Once we have received Christ we are adopted into a new family. We are cleansed and forgiven of all our sins and are now children of God. We have been given the right to call him "Father".

“Stand up for your rights and be brave, and don’t be intimidated. Read your Bible. That’s realy given me strength, and it wil give you strength. Pray, and use God’s name, Jehovah. And never tel a lie, ever.”

Absolutely! God is our ultimate source of strength, power, and He promises to help us through everything we go through in life. If you're feeling weak, know that He is always there for you. Just call out to Him, and He will speak strength into you. As long as you have faith in His plan, He will give you the power to get through anything you face. The Bible is full of examples of people who were faced with seemingly insurmountable odds but still managed to come out victorious. If they could do it, you can too! So don't give up hope. Instead, turn to God for strength in your time of need, and He will give you the power to overcome. If you need some help getting started, re-read our collection of Bible verses about strength. These quotes from the scripture can fuel you with the encouragement you need to keep going.
““If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
~ C.S. Lewis ~
“I don’t think I have what it takes to be a Christian.” I am sure that there are many people who feel this way. It’s this very feeling that makes Christianity and what Jesus did such a powerful gift. We could never measure up; not one of us. The person that thinks he is good enough and lives so purely that he could earn his way into Heaven by being good enough–this person is steeped in self-righteousness and pride. The Bible says that not one of us could enter into His glory (into Heaven and His presence) on our own merit. We are to try to live our best before Him and seek the Lord’s help daily. But it is called a gift of salvation
because that is what it is a gift! We can’t pay for it or earn it. Jesus paid for it and He is the one who made it a gift!
How do you release the power of God? You release the power of God by speaking faith-filled words in Jesus’ name, knowing it is the Father who does the works. Therefore, the power of God is released by faith, using the name of Jesus, and done in humility to the Father. “ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:12-14).
When the Holy Spirit comes on you, you are overshadowed with the power of the Most High (Acts 1:8, Luke 1:35). There is power in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Pray for God to immerse you in the Holy Spirit if you are yet to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
We are strengthened and spiritually energized with the power of God when we allow the Holy Spirit fill our inner most being and personality (Ephesians 3:16, Romans 8:11, Ephesians 5:18, Acts 4:8). There is power in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; this is different from the baptism. Pray for grace to daily spend time with God and walk in the Spirit so the Holy Spirit can fill you more and more.
When we understand who we are in Christ and exercise our spiritual authority by standing on the infallible Word of God to decree and declare a thing in line with God’s Word, we will see the power of God at work. Spiritual authority releases God’s power (1 Kings 17:1, Job 22:28, Proverbs 8:16, Proverbs 18:21, Luke 10:19-20, Luke 9:1-2, Ephesians 1:17-19). There is power in knowledge and spiritual authority. Know yourself, know the power embedded in you through Christ Jesus and put that power to work so you can exercise your spiritual dominion over situations of life and over forces of darkness.
