“We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God” (1Th 1:2-4). “What advantage then hath the Jew? or what pro t is there of circumcision? Much every way: chie y, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justi ed in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged” (Rom 3:1-4). In Revelation 14:13 we see the end to our works of faith and our labor of love: “And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, ‘Write, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!”’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them.’” The day will come when the toils of love’s labor will enter eternal rest and the faith that prompted works will become a sight to behold!

“What doth it pro t, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and lled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it pro t? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justi ed by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was ful lled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God” (Jas 2:14-23).
