Joel E. Lewinsohn, teacher

Joel E. Lewinsohn is a high school math teacher with over 20 years of experience. He has worked at the middle school, high school and college levels. Subjects he has taught include: 8th grade general math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and College Algebra. Additionally, he has worked as a Mechanical Engineer, which is a highly specialized math and science field. Joel shares, “Obviously, I like math and enjoy using it, or I wouldn’t still be doing what I’m doing. I think as a math instructor it is my privilege and responsibility to be engaging, clear, and remove the “fear factor” from my students. Math is a tool and needs to be developed. So often my students get caught up in worry about being able to do it or memorize it. My goal is that they actually understand it, so that they do not have to rely on memory, but are able to problem solve and come up with the answer." His students obviously get this, as he has high reviews from many of his students.
