The basics of baseball Baseball is an interesting sport. There are two teams that consist of 9 or more players. There are nine fielders and each one has a position. There is a pitcher, catcher, first base, second base, third base, shortstop, left field, and right field and centre field. The other team bats. How to play. One-‐ team bats and the other fields. The pitcher has a baseball and he throws the ball as fast as he can at the catcher, and get the ball in between the letters on the batters shirt and the knees and pass home plate without bouncing, if it does its called a strike. If it goes out of that space it’s called a ball. If there’s three strikes your out, and if there’s four balls you walk to first base. If the ball hits you when the pitcher throws it you walk to first base. If the batting team hits it and the fielders catch it the person that hit it is out. And if you get tagged off a base your out, [which is when a fielder touches you with the ball in there hand]. If you hit it in the diamond, which is in-‐between 1st and 3rd base you can run to 1st or 2nd depending on how well you hit the ball and how well the fielder’s field. If someone hits the ball over the fence it’s called a home run or a homer. The person that hits it and everyone on their team on the bases runs when touching every base to home. If the pitcher throws it past the catcher, if you’re on 1st 2nd or 3rd you can steal which is run to the next base. If you make it to home base it’s a run. If theirs three outs its changeover and the batters move to fielders and the fielders move to batters. After each team bats and fields it’s an innings, there’s nine innings in a game. Whoever has the most runs at the end of the game wins. I hope you liked my great text about baseball.
