How To Leverage Your Time More Effectively Posted on February 28, 2014
Time Management
I’m going to start this blog post off with something that may be very obvious to some, however so many people do not manage their time effectively and often get distracted by other external influences. When it comes to marketing your business online, staying on target and on track is crucial to succeeding. You will never get anywhere if you are constantly checking your phone, opening up other tabs on your browser that are not specific to what you are doing. All this does is distract you from your ultimate goal. Now time management isn’t about just making sure your not distracted, you need to be sure that you have adequately allocated time for you to be able to complete your daily actions and get the work done. Everyone is busy, many people work and don’t have enough time in the day, or so they think. What I am going to suggest to you is so simple, you will have wished you had done it sooner! Okay, so this is the strategy that I use to manage my time effectively and increase my productivity at the same time: First off you need to look at what MUST be completed in your day, to allow you to accomplish your goal, for instance that may be writing one blog post a day and then promoting it on at least 10 social media sites. You then write down a list of these actions numbering from 1 onwards. You don’t want to create a massive list so keep it short and sweet, 1-5 is usually enough. Once you have done this, you then need to organize them in order of importance. You should do this by using A B C D etc. For example, something incredibly important that MUST happen,
would be number one on your list and it would be in category A, the most important. A category D would be something that is not urgent or important, but needs to be done at some point. This will allow you to set your day out so that the important stuff always gets done, even if external influences make your day a living hell.
Block Out The Unimportant So many of you will from time to time have become distracted by other less important things that you need to do, or maybe that you think you need to do, but in reality you really don’t! Things like checking your email or your phone. “Oh but it might be important” I hear you say. Well guess what, ITS NOT. If you are serious about building an online business, you must make it your priority. One thing you can do is always use headphones while you work, listen to some personal development audio, this will help block out any other distractions. Also while you work, make sure you only have a couple of tabs open, and that they are 100% relevant to what you are working on, no email, no you tube, unless you REALLY need it.
Leverage Other Peoples Expertise Now this isn’t just for big businesses, many people utilize freelancers to complete the work that they don’t have time for, or that they are not skilled enough to do. For example, I often use Fiverr.com and elance to hire other people at a very reasonable price to complete other tasks for me like design and programming. I have always said that if you can outsource something to save time, then do it. There are many skilled freelancers out there that are able to help you, so why spend hours designing a logo or making a video look more attractive when you can pay someone else to do it, freeing you up to do the things that are going to make you money!
