After a very short-lived 2013 and an abundant taste of amazing photography, we are coming back into 2014 craving for more awesomeness. We have no silly New Year resolutions, but a continuation of plans we’ve had in store since day one. The discovery of brilliant photographers and photographs on a daily basis has been overwhelming. In this edition we are bringing back again some of the amazing discoveries we’ve founded along the way. Starting issue #4, we welcome Leigh Macarthur and his love for colors and exploration. Followed by Diana Lim, who will show us that without much planning and just a spirit full of instincts much can be accomplished. Douglas Macdonald will delight us with the exotic beauty of Jeju-do, captured by him for more than a decade and finally the frosting on the cake, extraordinary HDR photographs from a legendary photographer in Korea: Jason Taele. Tips, colors and more photographs accompany this issue creating a very captivating edition, to ensure your 2014 can start with high hopes and lots of inspiration. Enjoy.

Two things I love are my girlfriend Yeoju and shooting at the golden hour at sunset in Jeju. I don’t usually take many portraits as I’m more of a landscape/nature photographer, but I couldn’t help taking photos of my normally camera-shy girlfriend in this wonderful light one evening in January.

As we were waiting outside a restaurant to be seated, I came across this moment. To me it was the most tender exhibition of love that I’d ever seen. So simple. The delicate brushing of your lady’s hair. It never entered my mind that I would ever see a man do something like this. It felt like I was intruding on a private moment and almost didn’t take the shot. I’m happy I did!

Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning

I was reluctant at first to dig into the love subject as its not something I usually photograph. But then this happened this afternoon. It’s my daughter, Claire, who is Irish-Korean, and is enjoying her dinner. The love part is actually not that she’s my daughter, which goes without saying, but that fact that she is eating so enthusiastically.

I captured this on the steps of the war museum in Seoul on a beautiful autumn afternoon. I love the sense of peace and isolation, especially being literally sandwiched between a field of tanks and bombers and a hall of horrors. There’s at least a little room for love everywhere, I guess.

This is a photo of two best friends from Singapore who came to visit Korea together. Since then one moved to another country, and out of her love for her best friend, has asked me for some photos to present as a gift. Seeing how much they love and adore each other reminds me that love is so many things. Love is beautiful, selfless and passionate, but it is also fun, silly, and seriously contagious. It is also forever, and I these two will be friends forever.

I believe that the love between a parent and child is a unique bond between two human beings that develops as time passes. This image shows the respect from the child, combined with the proudness of the mother, as the child bows to her mother.
