To brand and package nostalgia in a novelty way which will intend to inform and ultimately evoke a sense of happiness upon the user.
Nostalgia is a memory, a thought process we can access anywhere. Childhood memories represent the times when we were free from the anxieties and responbilities of adulthood, a message which I wanted to put across in a lighthearted and humorous way.

Iconography
Minimal type treatment with a duplicate letter ‘O’ to create a though bubble. The green references the health benefit of using nostalgia.
Green is seen as a positive and uplifting colour, most commonly associated with health, particularly first aid. When printed commercially, this will be a spot colour (Pantone 368 U).
Icons will be used to reference the 5 senses in the nostalgia pack, on the packaging itself and in the insert.

90s Nostalgia Pack
Print methods
The nostalgia pack contains 5 objects reminiscent of a particular decade. Nostalgia can be instigated by any of our 5 primary senses, with smell and touch being the most receptive. Using this basis, I devised a segemented box design which packaged 5 objects which in this case, related to the 90s. I intended to juxtapose the minimal packaging with the fun and childlike contents.

The sensory receptors cover the skin and epithelia, skeletal muscles, bones and joints, internal organs, and the cardiovascular system.
SEASIDE The Tamagotchi is a handheld digital pet which was created in Japan by Bandai in the mid to late 90s. The name is derived from the Japanese word, tamago, which means "egg", and the English word, "watch" (uocchi). As of 2009, there have been over 44 Tamagotchi versions released since their creation in 1996.
Like real life pets, it needs plenty of attention. You are expected to feed it, allow it to go to the bathroom, entertain it, making sure it slept, and monitor its general happiness and well-being; if done efficiently, your pet will become loveable, content and well-behaved.

SMELL The somatosensory system is a diverse sensory system composed of the receptors and processing centres to produce the sensory modalities such as touch, temperature, proprioception (body position), and nociception (pain).

TOUCH Olfaction is the sense of smell. This sense is mediated by specialized sensory cells of the nasal cavity of vertebrates, and, by analogy, sensory cells of the antennae of invertebrates. When an odorant is detected by receptors, the receptors in a sense break the odorant down and then the brain puts the odorant back together for identification and
TAMAGOTCHI which is why the chemical nature of the odorant is important. Humans can detect individuals that are blood related kin (mothers and children but not husbands and wives) from olfaction.

Handout
The pack insert gives a brief insight into the products and the sense in which it references.
As I want to convey that nostalgia provides a break from day-to-day life and can simply be ‘used’ to make us happy, I devised a small handout which would be handed out in busy, public areas in order to provoke thought.
