Yoon

blogs, social networks

Joseph

I've worked with Moodle and as a Moodle support person since 2007. I feel really comfortable in the Moodle environment. I've also been blogging (for work and personally) since late 2007 and enjoy trying new edtech and web2.0 tools.

Hanaa

I'm an instructional technologist (previously English as a foreign language practitioner). My areas of interest are computer‐assisted language learning, communities of practice, and communication strategies. I have a fairly good knowledge of advanced web 2.0 applications, e.g. blogs, wikis, etc. I'm quite familiar with LMS, e.g. WebCT & Blackboard. My knowledge of Moodle as a designer is rather limited.

Victor Hugo

I'm a beginner Moodle designer supporting my pre‐ and in service language teacher education courses using Moodle platform at http://www.victorhugor.com/moodle/ I'd like to use Wiki and other virtual tools. Also, I am currently using PLN as Blogger, Twitterer, Facebooker, Youtuber, etc.

My goal would be that we work harmoniously, building on each other's contributions, to develop something each of us will find useful later. To complete all assignments on time.

To have all team members to be familiar with most of what moodle has to offer and to use the time to create practical courses that we make available to help empower teachers. Interact, share and learn from each other, create something that will be useful to all team members. Interact, Take the best of what all of us have to offer to enhance and grow as learners and educators To take what we share, learn, glean and put it to use in my own moodle classes for PD here at my school . I'd like to help create a basic Moodle course that any teacher would be able to access and say after reviewing it, "I understand what Moodle is, and how I can get started". I'd like to brush up on my skills in Moodle design as well as explore techniques for creating communities of practice and enhancing group dynamics. I'd like to develop my pedagogical skills for developing and delivering content students to be used in a blended environment. Also, I am keenly interested in developing staff development courses that could be delivered completely online, including a "basic Moodle course" as mentioned by Joe. I'd like to improve and empower my Moodle skills in order to pursue and deliver Blended Learning Online courses. Also, I'm interested in training teachers on Moodle course designing.

Potential barriers would probably include our different work schedules and communication styles Potential barriers We live in very different time zones. Some of us have Skype but not all of us. In addition I would like to become fluent in using Moodle. Technical breakdowns of Moodle among other tools and time zone differences

Potential barriers: time zone differences, slow internet connection Potential barriers: time constraints of participants, coalescing of varying goals into one product.

Potential barriers: there are so many tools and stuff on the web (like Wave) that are available; we could easily drown trying to wade through the various tools that we can use to collaborate. Potential barriers technical breakdowns in Moodle and elsewhere. Busy schedules. Drastic time zone differences. Potential barriers: time zone differences, busy work schedules.

Potential barriers: Different work schedules, time zone differences and communication facilities.

Ground Rules Meeting schedule, locations, attendance expectations, agenda, assignment completion, communication methods, etc. 5 | P a g e

Information

Marie

I'm in Florida, USA (EST/GMT ‐5). Tu‐W‐Th evenings can often work for me and Fridays during the day are more likely to be free. I think I will benefit most from the links and strategies we share in this group. I also hope to get some hands‐on experience. As for communication methods, I find asking questions a great way to learn. It also helps draw others out. Email to whole group, Sandbox to whole group, Either webinspiration or Wave and where possible Skype. We should check into Team E Sandbox at least daily. Everyone makes contributions of questions, content, ideas, time and be willing to help others. Make sure everyone has access to a tool and feels comfortable using it before it's adopted by the group.

email to all members. check email for latest updates I am in Pennsylvania, USA (EST) and work full time in a school. I have a 2 1/2 year old child so time is a rare commodity. My times are irregular at best, but I will try to be attentive. I hope all will make contributions, are patient and open minded, and willing to share. the general forum in our Moodle sandbox has us all subscribed to it automatically, so I think it'll be a better archive of our conversation/discussion than any email, Wave or otherwise (but I do think some synchronous time will be valuable if we can make it happen via skype, etc.) Discussions & interactions in delayed‐time (archive the info so other people can view/listen later) Most practical since we seem to have drastic time differences; luckily two or more can meet in real‐time from time to time. Meetings should be limited to 1 per week for the full group. I too am quite busy with work responsibilities, but will do my best to participate and make valuable contributions. I am deaf, thus audio‐based communication is impossible for me. I am thinking that it may be a good idea to use the Moodle chat feature for scheduled discussions because it generates a log, which those who are not able to participate, could read. And, all could refer to chat discussion sessions. I'd like to do my best; however, just this week some work responsibilities require my attention. I think we may share links; participate through forums, chats or wikis like this, making contributions. And the Moderators may sum up the information.

Conflict Management What are potential conflicts that might arise among or between team members during this course? How will team members deal with these and other conflicts? Name Information Marie Jason

Katherine Kenneth Yoon Joseph

Hanaa Jeff

Victor Hugo

I don't anticipate any conflicts though we may have some mis‐understandings. If we avoid making assumptions and ask questions instead of reacting we should be able to work those out. I agree with Marie, and would like to add that we should aim to speak clearly and directly with each other noting that language differences might change the perception of a message. Let’s be patient and calm with all interactions and assume the best of each other. I believe we will talk everything out and if that does not solve the conflict we will vote. Given that we have 11 team mates that should work. All of the above and there are ways of including everyone’s contribution even when a team nonsense is required. Agree with Katherine. Vote will be the last resort. State what is agreed, what is disagreed. Provide alternative if disagree I think agreeing on what our end goal will be the biggest problem (but, that's not a conflict because Moodle is flexible...we can all take this sandbox at the end and do what we want with it!) Open discussion on pros/cons of each point of view, voting As Joe points out, deciding upon our end goal may be our biggest conflict. And, there will likely be more discussion regarding our vehicles for collaboration and creation. I don't foresee any major conflicts, but I agree with those who have said that open discussion is the key to resolution. I think all of us have developed personal and professional skills that are supporting our PD according to the particular requirements of the social context where we work and live. Consequently, open discussion and proposing new ideas will avoid wasting time in failing arguments.
