Tomorrow’s Leaf

in the predawn praying hush of silence

slicing, slicing, me in half baby’s breath

left behind the old dream footprints & I

spring buds into the morass of summer

a bed flat on my back cold winter night

still so awake anywhere else day moon

below the neon light a trembling flower

‘tween two sides of the river leaf boats

deeply into the wet tundra a happy sun

drifting into nowhere to go a rain song

no homeless in the bird’s womb stones

watered roots on earth tomorrow’s leaf
