Last night, I ended up going down a rabbit hole and spent hours reading about unsolved murders.(結果昨晚我難以自拔、花了數小時 閱讀未破案的謀殺案。) I didn’t think you could do it, but you really pulled a rabbit out of a hat and came up with a great solution.(我本來以為你做 不到,但你確實出人意料提出了一個很棒的解決方法。)

在此 介紹跟音樂相關的片語:be music to sb’s ears 用來表示 「…… When Susan heard her daughter was going to get married, it was music to her ears.(蘇珊聽到女兒要結婚時,這對她而言是佳音。) Bruce said he’d treat us all to dinner, but when the bill arrived, he changed his tune.(布魯斯 說他要請我們大家吃晚餐,但帳單送來時,他卻改變主 意了。)

Reading Skill Builder

Distinguishing Facts from Opinions Nonfiction texts often contain a combination of facts and opinions. Facts are based in truth; they can be observed and proven. Opinions are personal beliefs, assumptions, or judgements that aren’t necessarily based in truth. Sometimes a fact and an opinion can be woven together in such a way as to lead the reader to accept an opinion for a fact, or vice versa. It’s important to be able to distinguish between facts and opinions so that we can remain autonomous, make sound judgements, and exercise the ability to think critically when reading. Identifying Facts When we think of facts, we tend to think in terms of data and numbers, such as dates or statistics. The factuality of such information is easy to verify: if the same information can be found in other sources, then it’s likely that the information is a fact. Spot Opinions To spot opinions, look for words and phrases that signal the writer’s values coloring the text. Absolute terms like best, worst, greatest, ugliest, everyone, no one, and the like should alert readers that an opinion is making an appearance. A statement such as: “Seat belts are the best way to prevent injuries in car accidents,” sounds true, but auto-safety experts might disagree. To help with identifying opinions, ask yourself whether a writer’s statement is always true and whether everyone would agree with the idea. Finally, there are statements that are somewhere in between fact and opinion. These statements are based on available evidence, but they haven’t been proven to be true. Such statements often integrate words and phrases like suggest, indicate, and based on, and they’re often used in scientific reporting.

Although she is best known for her role in Netflix’s science fiction horror show Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown is much more than a one-trick pony. Just 17 years old, Brown has already starred in hit movies and TV 05

shows, modeled for Calvin Klein, and appeared on Time Magazine’s 100 most influential1 people list.

are just a few of her achievements.2

Brown’s acting career began after her family moved from the UK to Florida, USA, when she was eight years old. Though she never took acting lessons, Brown was able 10

to perfect an American accent3 by watching TV. She copied the accents she heard, despite the fact that she is deaf in one ear.

這類的說法常帶 有像 suggest(暗示、表明)、indicate(暗示)以及 based on(根據)等字詞,且常被用在科學報導中。

The Real-Life Tale of Peter Rabbit

Matera, European Capital of Culture

B • . . . the people of Matera were moved to better homes. • . . . city in the world. • . . . on the side of a hill, overlooking a steep river valley. • . . . the caves were redeveloped into a tourist destination.

Shiny Dishes, Peaceful Mind

UK Turns to Birth Control to Contain Gray Squirrels

Luca 《

Back to my point, tablets are getting cheaper. The average cost of a tablet in 2015 was $386. Nowadays, you can buy one for just under $330. While laptops are getting cheaper, too, they’re still pretty pricey at around $700. For this reason, I think tablets are where our company should be putting its focus.
