Pope Francis: The world is near ‘suicide’ on climate change; ‘it’s now or never’ By Niraj Chokshi November 30

Pope Francis delivers a speech at the State House of Nairobi on Nov. 25, in which he warned that the world faces a "grave environmental crisis." (GIUSEPPE CACACE/AFP/Getty Images) Pope Francis on Monday urged environmental negotiators meeting in Paris to strike a deal to address climate change, warning that the world is "at the limits of suicide." "I am not sure, but I can say to you 'now or never'," he told a group of reporters aboard the papal plane, en route home from Africa, according to Reuters. "Every year the problems are getting worse. We are at the limits. If I may use a strong word I would say that we are at the limits of suicide." The pope's comments come as nearly 150 world leaders and others descend on Paris for a United Nations-sponsored environmental summit. page 1
