Wind, Solar, Fossil Fuels, Nuclear and Man-Made Global Warming A summary of articles on allaboutenery.net website John Shanahan March 2020 The Environmentalists for Nuclear – USA website discusses pros and cons of different energy sources that are being considered to support energy needs of people everywhere, to protect the environment and to preserve nature and wildlife habitat.

The modern world needs vast amounts of reliable, safe, environmentally sound energy to generate electricity and to support needs for almost everything else we do, including: operating the government, transportation, industry, commerce, careers, education, family living, caring for others, protecting the environment, and retirement. Prior to use of fossil fuels, wealthy people benefitted from work done by animals, slaves, and poorly paid laborers. People crossed oceans and milled grain using wind power.

Heating the planet to life supporting temperatures.

Producing the planet’s fresh water from ocean salt water.

Delivering fresh water from over the oceans to fall on land masses.

Photosynthesis to grow plants to support all forms of life

These four activities require vast amounts of energy. Sun and wind do it best. Most of the time this is done by gentle sunshine, light winds, moderate rain- and snow- storms.

Sometimes it is done by extreme winds, severe heat, bitter cold and violent rain and snowstorms. This is weather not man-made climate change. There are times when there is no sunshine and too little wind. Their energy is variable. They do the things mentioned above very well but are not good for producing vast amounts of additional energy to support a high standard of living for people around the world. Most people know this and understand that mankind is not able to significantly control or change Earth’s climate. Key people as high as the White House and professors at American universities, claim that wind and solar are enough for the world to live on, claim we must stop using fossil fuels, and assure us that they can control Earth’s climate.

Since the 1960s, extreme environmentalist groups and individuals have worked to control world economies and population. They have many followers. They claim that mankind is causing catastrophic global cooling, catastrophic global warming, catastrophic climate change, and catastrophic climate disruption. They say that mankind is the source of everything evil that is causing the Earth to deviate from their arbitrary ideal climate. They ignore all the natural climate changes in the past that have covered the planet with ice and snow. Earth has experienced natural warm periods at both poles. They are certain that the climate change in the last 150 years is catastrophic, due to mankind’s evil use of fossil fuels and the carbon dioxide pollution they produce.

The extreme alarmists ignore the absolutely essential natural carbon dioxide cycle to support life, the widely varying levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide in the past and the fact that temperature changes have generally preceded atmospheric carbon dioxide changes most of the time. They claim that increased carbon dioxide from fossil fuels will lead to a tipping point with catastrophic, irreversible global warming.

There are many more like this.

These extreme environmental organizations and individuals claim that use of fossil fuels is causing catastrophic global warming, catastrophic climate change, more severe weather, flooding and droughts. Once fossil fuel and nuclear power are gone, there will be no energy source for mining, milling, manufacturing materials for solar panels and wind turbines. And then no modern solar panels and wind turbines.

They want Africa to use solar ovens for cooking. They demand that everyone use less energy. They are working to impose their will on people everywhere. That will take the standard of living back to the Middle Ages. No modern health care system, no longdistance food production, no large farms. Millions of animals, slaves, indentured servants, and cowboys to do the work. No transportation except horse and ox drawn 2

wagons. Manure everywhere. No paved streets. No steel and concrete for buildings and bridges. No long tunnels.

This can only be done with a much smaller world population. That is what Paul Ehrlich and John Holdren demanded in the 1960s – 70s and have worked for their whole lives.

That kind of leadership will cause a return to very poor living standards shown in the photos below.

Climate alarmist organizations demand that people in Africa not use fossil fuels like in North America and Europe.

Theodore Rockwell, nuclear engineer was listed in the 1970s in the World Who’s Who in Science from Antiquity to the Present. One of his essays on solar, wind, fossil fuels and nuclear power is here. This basically says that the standard of living for the modern world requires high energy density fossil fuels and nuclear power. That is obvious to most people. Those who insist that the world be powered by solar and wind also want to stop use of fossil fuels and nuclear power. No solar and wind advocates have the level of recognition in science and engineering that Ted Rockwell has.

John Droz is a physicist at the Alliance for Wise Energy Decisions. He is dedicating most of his time to public education about the folly of wind energy for electricity. His website has lots of information.

Jon Boone is an environmentalist, naturalist, bird artist and expert on wind energy.

He is a talented writer and speaker on the disadvantages and problems of wind energy to provide electricity for the whole world or any major part of it.

Mark Jacobson is a professor of civil engineering at Stanford University. He wants the world to meet all electrical energy needs with wind and solar energy and insists that countries stop using fossil fuels and nuclear. He has nowhere near the scientific recognition of Ted Rockwell. He spends considerable effort filing lawsuits against people who disagree with his claims of what renewable energy can do.

Barack Obama, John Holdren and Hillary Clinton are strong advocates of wind and solar energy, want to greatly reduce use of fossil fuels and have done little to promote use of nuclear power.

From the 1970s through 2018, many elected officials in the USA did little to promote a sound national energy program. On the other hand, Canada, China, France, India, South Africa and other countries are working to develop good energy programs. They will not have large amounts of wind and solar energy, mostly fossil fuels and nuclear power.

Steven Lyazi in Uganda fought until his untimely death in 2017 to have fossil fuels, eventually nuclear and their many by-products and services, including nuclear medicine. With little formal education and income, he was greatly respected in North America and across Africa for his efforts to help his people have better access to fossil fuels and nuclear. Man-made global warming alarmists don’t want Africa or anybody to have fossil fuels.

Hannover, Germany Germany is where some of the biggest changes in government mandated energy planning is taking place. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, PIK, works all the time to brand every weather event as being caused by man-made global warming from CO2 from fossil fuels. The team of scientists at Kalte Sonne works full time to show that the total changes in CO2 (man-made and natural) in the last century are not going to cause catastrophic man-made global warming.

The German government decided to switch out of nuclear power. Instead change to mostly wind, solar with many coal fired plants as backup. The wind turbines are killing birds and bats, disturbing people and destroying the tranquility and beauty of nature that has been important to many Germans for hundreds of years. The price of electricity with this program is one of the highest in Europe and North America. Poor Germans are suffering from these extreme green energy policies the most. The same in the UK. Germany has been home to some of the best in science, engineering, technology, literature, music, health care, beautiful, well planned cities, reliable, well-operated urban and long-distance transportation systems.

Their current national electric energy plan is to get rid of nuclear and go 100% with dilute, unreliable, marginally available solar and wind energy backed up by coal fired plants. They buy vast quantities of natural gas from a former long-term enemy, that still threatens them. This plan is destroying a beautiful country and a great way of living. It is not sustainable. Hail to the extreme green environmental movement in Germany!

The United States is home to many extreme environmentalist organizations. One new organization is Our Children’s Trust. It elevates the voices of man-made climate change concerned youth to secure their “legal right to a stable climate.” Through their programs, youth participate in advocacy, public education and civic engagement to ensure the viability of all-natural systems in accordance with science. They base much of their work on the climate science of James Hansen. The organization is headed almost entirely by environmental lawyers. At the expense of most people around the world, they insist that the world stop using fossil fuels. James Hansen makes completely unrealistic claims that the whole world can be converted to nuclear power in a short time. This is completely out of touch with reality because of the lack of stable governments, sound economies, sufficient education systems, strong enough economies.
