Far more support for wind turbines than for hospitals and nuclear power in France Eric Lubin Erquy, France
1
During the construction of 8.000 wind turbines in France, a terrible industrial failure, the health budget suffered 8 billion credits deleted, 100.000 beds closed, 95 emergency services eliminated, half of the maternity leave in France. The comparison is unbearable. After three years of serious health crisis and now the fatal coronavirus, it is the budget choice of the state that is sick: only 25 % of wind turbines cost as much as the upgrade of our entire health system, estimated at 30 billion minimum. France has swallowed 120 billion in a gadget solution that claimed to replace nuclear: wind turbines. After spending a huge cost equal to all other energy, wind turbines only provide this ridiculous 5 % of French electricity, only 1 day out of 5, and they have added electricity rates by 35 %, for nothing.

Comment by Jon Boone, USA Alas, this is well known “economic” virtual signalment throughout much of Europe. In Britain, under Johnson, it’s likely to get even worse as he panders to the dumbest among his constituency. What makes the situation even more grotesque is the claim in the article’s last sentence that wind provides 5% of Frances’s electricity—of a piece with the ludicrous contention that wind induced electricity is useful only when its source of energy is blowing. Until people understand that wind cannot be loosed on any grid by itself, that it must be surrounded by a host of prosthetics at all times, all of which is working overtime just so the grid can stand still, in the process using up as much or more conventional fuel than it “saves” at the front end of its penetration, politicians will continue to generate wind tax shelters for their cronies, claiming to be saving the world. There’s no other reason to build them, as someone once said…. Truth is, wind is most useful when it’s energy source is quiescent. Comment by John Shanahan, Editor of website: allaboutenergy.net, USA There is one good use of wind energy. It worked very well most of the time for hundreds of thousands of years - to bring water evaporated off the oceans as clouds over land and let it fall as rain and snow to make it possible for plants to grow and animals, birds, butterflies and humans to live. Many say about wind energy for generating electricity for modern societies: No! Never! See wind turbines near Hamburg, Germany below. Isn’t this Wahnsinn! Insanity!
