In Memory Friends of Science Society’s co-founder, Albert Jacobs, passed away. April 10, 1926 – Amsterdam, The Netherlands February 12, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, Albert Frederik Jacobs passed away after a brief illness. Albert was born April 10, 1926, in Amsterdam, the only child of Emanuel and Judith (née Kan) Jacobs. At great personal risk, several Dutch citizens helped conceal Albert from the Holocaust that took his relatives. Their generosity also enabled him to study at the University of Amsterdam, completing doctoral research in Geology (ABD, 1954).

Climate of Oppression Friends of Science Blog Posts: December 18, 2018 to November 30, 2020 Over the past 18 months, the influence of climate activists on global politics has become more and more Page | 11 oppressive. As you read through this compilation of posts which are in chronological order from present to past (except for the ‘pinned’ first post of our President’s fundraising appeal of last spring), you will see that what was once discussed as a possible climate or energy policy, has become or is becoming a reality through creeping legislation and activism. The compilation is meant to offer members a sense of what our volunteers and content providers have contributed to the public conversation. If you missed any of these posts, you could simply open the file on your computer with internet access, and by clicking on the title, you should be able to link directly to the article or report. Otherwise, you can also do an internet search by the title, adding ‘friends of science blog’. We apologize for formatting inconsistencies in this compilation. The excerpts were cut and pasted from our blog and due to the volume of content, it would be very time consuming to try and make all formatting match, especially when this is meant as more of a reference document. The blog is not our only compendium of information, of course. Directors Ken Gregory and Ian Cameron have faithfully issued “Cli-Sci” and “Extracts” on a bimonthly basis for our members. Our quarterly newsletters are put together by the board of directors and the communications team. All of these are archived on our website under “News and Events” “Newsletters”. And of course, our YouTube channel has a diverse collection of everything from free documentary films, a Video-On-Demand sponsored content film, science presentations and interviews, and commentaries on climate and energy policies. We hope you find this to be a useful and interesting compilation of information. We would like to say a special thank you to the very prolific Robert Lyman for his many excellent reports and articles. May 2021 bring us peace, joy, and the collapse of climate oppression.
