Keystone pipeline alternatives February 2022 Russ Babcock February 27, 2022 Folks interested in the Keystone pipeline will be interested in reading the article linked below. Indeed, the website that this article is found on will likely be quite enlightening to a lot of folks. https://www.oilsandsmagazine.com/market-insights/american-appetite-canadian-crud e-usage-us-refineries . Canadian crude gets to southern US refineries by rail, and has been transported that way for a very long time (decades). It was and still is refined in the US. US refineries discount Canadian crude to account for sulphur removal costs at the front ends of their refining processes. Only recent Democrat Party governments have prevented this outmoded and dangerous method of transport to be replaced by much cheaper, much safer, much less environmentally risky, and much more sensible conveyance by pipeline. The saddest part of this destructive political endeavor is that it is all at unnecessary cost and hardship to American and Canadian taxpayers, all for the benefit and agendas of dishonest charlatans and moronic politicians. Both of our countries have more than our share of these kinds of people. The political roadblock to the Keystone pipeline is certainly not based on any honest attempt to battle climate change. That mission is best left to fictional characters like Don Quixote I suggest. People reading this thread might also be interested to know that saner Canadians (to the chagrin of our own Marx-inspired government leaders - temporary I hope) will finally complete a new pipeline from the Alberta oil sands to the coastal city of Burnaby, British Columbia (2023), where our crude WILL be marketed to the rest of the world. The only reason Canada is doing this is to offset the Obama / Biden & Co laws that take away our pathway to American markets. As Canada has been the US's single-biggest economic (and social) partner since our confederation in 1867, the saner among us would prefer to keep it that way.
