Why is there such a contrast in differences of opinion among scientists about the topic of climate? Terigi Ciccone February 5, 2024 Posted on Quora
First of all, let’s be clear - there’s no such thing as “climate scientists.” Climate and climate change is an extremely complex field involving at least two dozen natural forces and cycles that cause climate change. We need 1
astronomers who understand the orbital cycles and gravitational forces of the sun, the Earth, the moon, and the planets. We need solar physicists who try to understand the many complex cycles of the sun, not only in measuring the sun’s power but also the side effects of these cycles. For example, we have only recently discovered the huge impact on climate caused by how many galactic cosmic rays reach the Earth. It turns out that’s largely controlled by when and how powerfully the sun emits solar winds. Then, we need scientists to tell us when and by how much the earth tilts towards the sun or away from the sun. And scientists that can determine when and by how much the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon are wobbling around. Then, to understand what the climate was like in the past ages, we need geologists, chemists, and biologists who can determine the temperatures and CO2 levels from geologic evidence. We then need many different types of physicists who can understand the radiative energy transfer mechanisms from the sun to the Earth. Other physicists that understand the fluid dynamics of how heat is moved around the air, the land, and the oceans. We need geologists and volcanologists who can tell us how the heat at the Earth’s core rises to the surface and impacts our weather/climate. And dozens of other disciplines. Then, we need other scientists who try to piece together all the inputs from all these different scientists and disciplines and try to guess how they will separately and jointly impact future climate changes. So, we have a lot of data and a lot of scientists with different views, opinions, and biases. Then, on top of that, there are a lot of climate change parasites that try to cash in on the $ billions and $trillions that Politicians have put into play to use climate change to implement their social, ideological, and economic objectives. Then, we have various industries that want to exploit it to get rich, like wind turbine makers, people with solar panels, storage batteries and others with solutions on how to capture and sequester atmospheric CO2. Then the politicians spend tens of $ billions of dollars to pay universities and their scientists to find data that supports their policies and science that opposes their rivals’ policies. Many intelligent and thoughtful people have said that climate change has become the greatest scientific and economic fraud in the history of mankind. 2
But the ones that greatly benefit from it, financially or otherwise, will have their own stories to tell to the press/media. On top of that, many want to use climate change to virtue signal by saving the planet and humanity. It’s no easy task for the average person (voter, consumer, teacher, student, etc.) to discern what is the truth from what is disinformation and what is fraudulent.
