Denver, February 19, 2024 - John A. Shanahan has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. Dr. Shanahan is a seasoned professional with over five decades of experience in his field. Since 2019, he has been the founder and editor of AllAboutEnergy.net, dedicated to providing comprehensive information and resources on energy-related topics. Dr. Shanahan’s tenure in this entrepreneurial role is a testament to his commitment to educating the public and advocating for energy solutions.

Before establishing himself at All About Energy, Dr. Shanahan was president of Environmentalists for Nuclear, US, from 2013 to 2018, where he worked to promote nuclear energy as a clean and efficient power source. He served in the same capacity at Go Nuclear Inc. between 2011 and 2012,

emphasizing the importance of nuclear technology in sustainable development. Dr. Shanahan’s financial acumen was also evident during his time as a financial advisor with DBA, Morgan Stanley and Raymond James from 1996 to 2012 after five years as branch manager at Professional Analysis Inc., a company that provides program management, logistics, configuration management, engineering, and information technology support, beginning in 1990.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Shanahan provided valuable insights as a consultant through John Shanahan Consulting Civil and Software Engineer from 1986 to 1990. His foundational experience as a senior engineer at Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. between 1973 and 1985 and at Bechtel Power Corp. from 1969 to 1972 laid the groundwork for his subsequent achievements. Besides his full-time career contributions, Dr. Shanahan taught as a Spanish history and literature teacher and a private teacher to Hispanic students in the U.S. from 2014 to 2015.

Apart from his work endeavors, Dr. Shanahan is passionate about giving back. Most notably, he was a volunteer fundraiser for Archbishop Stepinac High School from 1996 to 2022, where he was instrumental in supporting educational initiatives. Between 1995 and 2024, Dr. Shanahan also led nationwide fundraising for education-related charities in Guinea, Nepal, Tibet and the U.S.

In preparation for his career, Dr. Shanahan received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1962 and 1964 respectively. Following these two degrees, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Germany from 1964 to 1966. Dr. Shanahan subsequently received a Doctor of Engineering from Ruhr University Bochum in Germany in 1969. He is a life member of the Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society for scientists and engineers.

A combination of personal connections and intellectual curiosity influenced Dr. Shanahan’s decision to enter his profession. His relationship with

President Obama’s science advisor, John Holdren, dates back to their early careers when they shared mutual interests despite diverging paths. This friendship and Dr. Shanahan’s proactive approach led him to found All About Energy following an impactful correspondence with Holdren regarding nuclear energy policy.
