The broad, sweeping estuary of the magnificent Clyde River provides brilliant views seaward to an islanddotted horizon and upriver to the forested mountain backdrop. Home to the famous Clyde River oyster, Batemans Bay offers fresh, modern restaurants, with local seafood a specialty. Cruise the river, go boating, fishing, sailing, mini-golfing or indulge in some local shopping temptations. There are modern clubs, all of which welcome visitors.
Venture just 5 minutes south to the quaint township of Mogo. Famous for the Mogo Zoo, the whole family can enjoy an outing to Mogo. There’s plenty to see and do in Batemans Bay and something to suit everyone. Enjoy your stay!

To the north and south, beautiful beaches and rocky headlands prove magnets for visitors who enjoy the rolling surf, or more sheltered coves with quieter waters for family picnics or snorkelling expeditions.
The region’s picturesque lakes and other waterways provide visitors with the opportunity to take a serene walk and view some of the amazing flora and fauna. Possums, wallabies, kangaroos, parrots and sea eagles are just some of the wildlife you’ll see along the way.

Things to
SEE & DO EUCALYPT TRAIL The Eucalupt Trail is located approximately 14kms north of Batemans Bay on the Princes Highway. The trail is about 500 metres long, winding through a tall wet sclerophyll forest environment boasting 11 different eucalypt species. A barbecue area complete with picnic tables, bins and toilet facilities is available.
BROULEE ISLAND WALK Broulee Island occupies a very special place in the Eurobodalla Shire. Back in the 1830s, when Broulee was first settled, the island was firmly connected to the mainland by a sand spit covered with low scrub and coastal banksia. Today, the nature reserve is accessible via a sandbar. The walk is 4kms in total and will take you around two hours to complete, but your efforts will be rewarded. Whales can be spotted along the walk during springtime.

BINGIE DREAMING TRACK The Bingie Dreaming Track follows part of the dreaming track used by the Brinja-Yuin people. It has some great vantage points for whale watching and passes through a variety of plant communities from eucalyptus forests to heath lands. This coastal walk includes some sections along sandy beaches. The track Bingie Bingie Point to Congo return is 16 kms, a 6 hour moderate walk. Track Bingie Bingie Point to Tuross Head is 11kms return, 5 hours in total, and is a moderate to difficult walk as part of the track is sand.
THE CLYDE RIVER BRIDGE The Batemans Bay Clyde River ferry crossing was established in 1871 and was replaced by a lifting span bridge in 1956. This Clyde River crossing put Batemans Bay on the map and started to draw trade away from Nelligen and establish Batemans Bay as the main hub on the state’s South Coast. The Batemans Bay bridge, today, is the oldest of its type in Australia and is a well recognised landmark on the South Coast of New South Wales. Visitors to the area are quickly charmed by its iconic presence and its fascinating operation.
GUERILLA BAY AND BURREWARRA POINT LOOKOUT Guerilla Bay, 13kms south of Batemans Bay, is a hidden gem amongst the other picturesque bays in
Eurobodalla. The bay is suitable for swimming and is also great for snorkelling and kayaking. Guerilla Bay is the starting point for the Banksia Walk to Burrewarra Point. The walk is 1.5 kms long and you can explore rock pools and the rocky contours along the way. At Burrewarra Point Lighthouse, the views up and down the coast are breathtaking. Keep a watchful eye out for dolphins (at any time) and whales.
MURRAMARANG NATIONAL PARK The lush, semi rainforest vegetation of Murramarang National Park is home to the famous beach kangaroos and lies a mere 10 kms north of Batemans Bay. With imposing spotted gums and minor creeks deviating here and there it’s hard to believe that this was once a heavily logged forest. These days Mount Agony Road is a pleasurable, fully sealed roadway leading to the front door of beautiful Depot Beach and Durras Lake North and the Village. You can also venture this road to Pebbly Beach, internationally renowned for its flora and fauna, and as a gateway to the Durras Mountain Walk and Snake Bay trail.
GALLERIES IN EUROBODALLA The Eurobodalla is a region blessed with the beauty of nature’s creativity, so its hardly surprising that a talented artistic community flourishes in the Eurobodalla. Visit the world class galleries and studios, run by many award winning and recognised artists. You’ll be delighted by the superb local and imported works that feature painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, pottery, textiles and more. Indigenous art is a special feature. The list is endless. To help you explore the cultural beauty of Eurobodalla, visit the Batemans Bay Visitor Centre or www.eurobodalla.com.au.
PIGEON HOUSE MOUNTAIN Pigeon House Mountain is approximately a 1 hour drive from Batemans Bay. The walk to the top of the mountain and return will take about 4 hours and is divided into 4 separate stages: Stage 1 is a steep 800 metre climb; Stage 2 is a flat 1km walk; Stage 3 is a steep 500 metre climb; and Stage 4 is a series of climbing steel ladders to reach the summit. Best to walk in dry weather due to steep tracks.

Located ten minutes from Batemans Bay, Mogo is a quaint, historical township founded during the Gold Rush. During the Gold Rush, Mogo was a bustling little township with a host of facilities. After the boom, however, it retired into a sleepy hollow. During the 1980s, the increasing number of artists in the region gave rise to a creative vibe and unique, artisan products. Today, visitors to Mogo can enjoy perusing the galleries and boutiques shops for arts, jewellery, antiques, ceramics and more. Otherwise, sit down for refreshments at one of the lovely cafes in town. Mogo is also renowned for its zoo which exhibits an extraordinary menagerie of animals and boasts the largest collection of primates in any private zoo in Australia. At Mogo Zoo you will be intrigued by close encounters with an array of endangered and exotic animals from around the globe. Meet a mob of meerkats as they clamber and climb all over you. Sail around the primate islands and handfeed the ring-tailed & black-and-white ruffed lemurs. Come face-to-face with African servals or hand-feed a tiger – if you dare! Or perhaps you’d like to encounter all of these experiences and be a keeper for the day. It is Mogo Zoo’s aim to involve and educate the public at large and offer its visitors an intimate, educational zoo experience. For more information, visit mogozoo.com.au.
