So far 2013 has felt like an endless summer, thanks to a mid-winter trip to Zanzibar to shoot the issue you’re currently enjoying. And bright colours – usually reserved for warmer months – have been such a strong beauty theme since last summer that it feels like the sun hasn’t set since then. Happily, colour stays vibrant this season with neon, pastel and punchy fruit hues on lips and eyes, and flattering pinks, browns and bronzes for flawless, luminous skin.

Skin type ranges from very little pigment (type 1) to very darkly pigmented (type 6) and it determines the degree to which you burn, as well as the time that it takes you to burn. Which type are you?
