PITTSBURGH ENTERTAINMENT CORPORATION CENTER 4TH YEAR INTEGRATED DESIGN STUDIO | PROF. LUKENS | PITTSBURGH, PA | SPRING 2018 Group Design Project | John DiAntonio + Allison Huchko The project creates an energetic and unique work environment on par with the emerging trends for young professionals entering the workforce in Pittsburgh. Designed to support a gaming and software company, the design augments the display of new and exciting technologies to the community by providing opportunites for the public to explore and engage with them. The formal considerations of the project stemmed from the idea of “play. Through research and analysis of this idea, curvalinear forms were found to be the most free, and overall representative. The building form implements curvalinear corners and edges as well as radial forms and vertical elements all relating back to the idea of play and the goal of creating a unique and enjoyable interior space. Positioned on a prominent corner within the Benische Master Plan (WD Partners), the site allows for special connections to additional public spaces. These contextual elements were greatly considered in the design process and resulted in the devolpment of a punctured passageway through the ground floor of the building.
