Spent first 5 years of my life in a WWII German POW camp. The war was over and the Germans POW's were gone but I have neat memories of the period. Had a happy and uncomplicated childhood. Graduated from public schools, tried college for two years and then went to live with my Uncle for almost three years. . . my Uncle Sam! Missed being sent to Viet Nam by the skin of my teeth. 20 guys in my MOS class and 18 went straight to VN; one guy went to Gernamy and I went to the Republic of Panama. Tough duty, but someone had to do it! Honorably discharged, back to college, met the girl of my dreams, graduated, married aforementioned girl, got a masters degree went to work, raised a family, went back for a phd and have had a life full of blessings. I identify with a comment my late father made, "In my life if things could go good or bad, they always went good."
