ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Academic Scholars are all-rounders in the classroom, who enjoy the learning process and strive to be the best they can be in every subject they take. Academic Scholars are inherently inquisitive and enjoy extending their horizons beyond the curriculum.
Our Academic Scholarship Programme is designed to support and challenge each Scholar both inside and outside the classroom, to improve their academic results.The Programme will also support pupils in developing their passions and curiosity to pursue extra-curricular learning.This in turn will inspire all other pupils to reach for the highest standards.
The programme aims to touch on all eight of our School Values, but with a particular focus on Excellence, Ambition and Enquiry.
Eligibility
Academic Scholarships are awarded by the School based on achievement in the entrance examination process and are typically awarded to pupils who achieve high marks in more than one subject.
There is no application form to fill in for Academic Scholarships.
Rewards and Expectations
Each Academic Scholar will be invited to a special induction day with their parents. An Academic Scholars’ assembly will be held each term.
Every Academic Scholar will receive a set of individually tailored personal targets on a termly basis, based on their strengths and areas which can be improved upon. Each Scholar will benefit from regular meetings with teacher mentors, play an active and visible part in the Excellence Programme, attend a variety of extra-curricular clubs and societies in school, and be given assistance in seeking out independent reading, talks and lectures.
Scholars are expected to attend most Excellence Programme talks, enter an Excellence Programme competition every term, play an active role in the Academic Society, take part in an extra-curricular club that involves a project and regularly update their Scholarship Journal to record their progress.
Teachers and Mentors
Our Academic Scholarship Programme will be overseen by the Head of Scholars, who will set the overall structure of the programme and keep the central record of Scholars’ progress. The Head of Scholars will also manage a team of teacher mentors, who will work with each Scholar offering 1:1 guidance and support.
The role of the mentors will be to review progress, monitor entries into Scholarship Journals, assess levels of commitment, set future targets and provide written feedback, termly to the Head of Scholars and annually to parents.
