Our first match was a good game against Lions FC, who defended really well and had a few chances to score, but Dayle in goal made a good save and the team went on to win 5-0. Our next opposition today is the only team that has managed to take 2 points away from having a clean sheet in the Gibraltar Premier League, so a win against St. Joseph would place up in the right track and keep our pole position for another week. I have to thank St. Joseph´s fans and Europa fans for how they have behaved in our match encounters and would have to say that the league in that sense has been great. This is what we want to see in every game. I would also like to congratulate the 6 teams who managed to get into the Championship group and the other 6 teams who keep competing in the lower group, all the luck this year. I have to give a very big Thank You to our under 16 team that have been called up for every Premier game as ball boys, Thank You Again.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
We have today one of the big games of the season, a very important game. We are playing against the 2nd placed team who hasn´t lost a game, only drawn two games against us which we have only drawn once, and we have no games lost. It will be a very attractive game were both teams will have in play an important part of this season. Looking forward in this 2nd round of the competition, were both teams know each other quite well. We will go into this game looking to carry on where we left off, continuing to play well and getting the results we want as we have been doing during the season so far. We did a good game against Lions FC which was the 1st match in this 2nd round of the competition, now what we want is to carry on from there against a team which we know will be difficult for the whole ninety minutes. For the fans of both teams and for football fans in general in Gibraltar I think it’s a good time for both teams to play an attractive game, each one within their own style of play and both demonstrating why both teams are top of the league. We have prepared the game in all aspects to come into it with the best possible preparation to achieve our objective. We hope we see a competitive Europa team and we manage to get a very important three points from this game.

Indeed all will not achieve the pinacle of the Messi´s and Ronaldo´s of this world but their journey will be such that they find the richness which sport brings giving them focus and ambition but above all integrity and respect for their peers when they compete against each other. To this end we have set up a Football Academy which is ably managed by our Academy Director Jophn Moreno, a Qualified UEFA Coach himself. We believe that Coaches are like teachers, and for this we believe all our Coaches in our Academy have to be updated in all their Qualifications. Would you send your kid to school knowing the teacher wasn´t qualified? Football is no different. (Continued on page 9) 5
Today’s Opponents St. Joseph FC St Joseph’s Football Club, created in 1912, is an association football club based in Gibraltar. It currently plays in the Gibraltar National League. The club also has a few youth teams. The club was granted an official UEFA licence in 2015. Since Gibraltar became a member of UEFA, the Saints have seen more mixed fortunes, including narrowly avoiding relegation in the 2013-14 season, ending up in the relegation play-off and narrowly beating Mons Calpe to retain their Premier Division status. Since that near miss, they have consistently finished in the top half of the league, and in 2017 qualified for the UEFA Europa League for the first time with a 3rd-place finish, after Gibraltar had been given an additional spot in the competition. However, their maiden campaign would be short-lived as they suffered a resounding 10-0 aggregate defeat to AEL Limassol of Cyprus. Last season they won their preliminary round against Prishtina from Kosovo 3-1 on agregate. Next round they played Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers losing 10-0 in aggregate. They have formed a strong squad and are a team up there challenging for the league title. In today´s match we will see two teams up there challenging for all the major titles in Gibraltar.

We are working on this to achieve a better standard of coaching. We want all our coaches not only updated in all their qualifications but we also encourage them to attend higher courses, to enhance their knowledge about the game and in turn pass it on to our junior players. This is our aim………. Better Coaches equals Better Players. Although there is a high % of junior players not making it to the pro-game, the majority of them, this is not the end for those that don´t make it. We are also here not only to make better footballers, but to make better persons as well. This will help them in life in the future. There is now more than 50 professions linked to football, so there are many avenues kids can take if they want to be involved with football but are not good to make it to Pro. Coaches, Referees, Social Media, Accounting, Graphic Designer, Nutritionist, Physio, Doctor,Graphic Designer etc Our Academy Director helped a student studying in Kingston University in getting involved with AFC Wimbledon and starting in Football Analysis with the academy of that club.
