Europa V Boca Match Program Officials For Today’s Game Referee AEl Yettefti, Asst. Ref. 1 J. Vega, Asst. Ref. 2 J. Villada.. 4th Official J. Ward, Ref. Observer P. Grech. Interview With New Signing Jayce Olivero What’s your ambition after signing with Europa FC? Well Europa are a great club and a club that compete for all the titles in Gibraltar. Europa have a very good set up and place an emphasis on being as professional as possible. Europa have top players who demand a lot from each other every single week. I wanted to be part of this. I want to be working hard every single day on the training page and giving everything every single day in training to be able to develop and grow and learn from the other players in the team. I want to work hard and develop in order to get to the next level within football and be able to compete every single week and be able to learn and improve every single day. My ambition with Europa is to form part of a top team who work hard every single day and who give everything every single day on the training pitch to be able to win as many titles as possible and to be able to do it through playing a great level of football.

How have you done this past year with Abingdon Town? On a personal level, this year has been a very crucial and important year for me within football. On a team level, this season did not end too well and considering the good players that the team had I think we could’ve and should’ve done a lot better than we actually did. On a personal level, training hard every single week and playing two games every single week against good sides with good players really really help me to improve and to progress, and to learn things every single week and this helped me to make a step up in my game. I have learned a lot within the range of factors within the game of football this past year and these things have allowed me to improve my game and to become the best that I can be. Europa FC President Peter Cabezutto

Dear Fans, It is our last game of the league and as always I want to thank everyone involved in our club. Hopefully next year we will have a smoother league to give us s better chance at winning the league. All in all a good league considering the complicated season the club has had well hope to see you all on the 26th of May at our third consecutive Gibtelecom Rock Cup Final. Many thanks Peter Cabezutto President Europa Fc Looking forward for the next game of Gibraltar against Georgia and what do you expect from a team like Georgia? Yes most definitely, it is always exciting and I always really look forward to the international games with excitement. The next two upcoming fixtures for Gibraltar are away games, so the team expects a tough challenge in both games and two games in which the team have to be 100% and they must be prepared to give everything on the pitch. Georgia are a very good side and it’s been demonstrated throughout their international games and obviously Gibraltar have come up against Georgia previously. The team knows that the fixture in Georgia is a very challenging fixture but nevertheless, the team is going to work as hard as they can like they always do each day on the training pitch to make sure that they get there and that they are ready for battle. The team will be ready to give everything for the shirt and for every Gibraltarian.

Today’s Opponents Boca FC The club was founded as Boca Juniors Gibraltar F.C. in 2012, and joined the Gibraltar Second Division for the 2012-13 season. After the Gibraltar Football Association joined UEFA in 2013, the league saw significant expansion and an influx of foreign players, however, a 10th place finish in the 14 team league was all they could muster in the 2014– 15 season. After rebuilding the squad in the now 12 team division, the team finished 8th in the 2015–16 season. Significant improvements after the departure of Red Imps, Pegasus and Britannia from the league saw an impressive 3rd place finish in 2017, while the club began referring to themselves as simply Boca Gibraltar. However, 7 points separated Boca from the top two teams, and they missed out on the promotion play-off. A restructuring in summer 2017 saw former goalkeeper and club captain Philip Hermida promoted to Director of Football, with the intention of challenging for promotion in 2018. A 1-1 draw with Ocean Village rivals Bruno's Magpies on the final day secured the Second Division title by a single point on 22 May 2018, ensuring that Boca will play in the Gibraltar Premier Division for the first time next season. In February 2019, the club was taken over by a group of investors including former player Phillip Hermida, Allen Bula Jr, and former national team coach Aaron Edwards. (Source Wilkepedia)

Gibraltar Referees To Attend UEFA Core Programme Three Gibraltar FA match officials will travel to UEFA's Refereeing Centre of Excellence will participate in a UEFA CORE Programme over the coming weeks. Referee Seth Galia, and Assistant Referees Denis Perez and Ruben Navarro will attend CORE No 44 Introductory Course from the 14th to 23rd May. they will then follow this up with up with the CORE Consolidation Course later in October 2019. CORE plays a key role in training potential future FIFA match officials, ensuring high quality standards for the next generation of match officials. The training is divided into theoretical phases with audio visual support followed by a phase of practice on the field of play. Participants will be engaged in refereeing matches in the lower leagues in Switzerland and France and producing self-analyses of their performance. In the consolidation phase the progress made on the field will be evaluated, as well as their familiarity with the English language and their fitness level. At the conclusion of the program, the referees will receive a prestigious certificate of attendance. Our Match officials had this to say of their rapidly approaching attendance at UEFA CORE No 44. 18

Seth Galia: “Being selected by Gibraltar FA to represent them at the UEFA Centre of Referee Excellence – CORE, is a massive honour. Throughout the course I am looking forward to working with my two assistant referees Denis Perez and Ruben Navarro, as well as learning and experiencing coaching and development from the different UEFA referee coaches and working alongside other young promising referees from various countries. My expectation of the course is to ensure continued development as a match official, and hopefully create a pathway into refereeing at an international standard in the future.” Denis Perez; “What we expect from CORE is knowledge and improvement. The knowledge that we will gain at CORE will help us to improve to elite standards in the future. CORE is also an opportunity to prove all we have learnt and to work alongside future elite referees of the bigger countries in Europe. An opportunity for us to prove that we can even match them in enthusiasm and knowledge.” Ruben Navarro;

“As a young assistant referee I feel really lucky for the great opportunity I’ve been given as I believe it is a good chance to not only develop and learn new skills and techniques from my coaches, the rest of international participants and my own colleagues, but also to gain experience and use it in the future in my refereeing career.”
