Europa FC President Peter Cabezutto From the Board of Directors I would like to thank all those involved in the Europa FC family and specially Mr Johnny Moreno for the great work in producing this match day program which is the first in the premier league I believe and following the foot steps of Bruno Magpies who have been doing it for a while now in second division. We are a club that relishes with been at the forefront of football in Gibraltar and never gives up on its dreams. I believe we have shown Gibraltar that we are here for the long run and believe in Sports as a great way of giving back to the community in which we live and believe in. It has been a very tough year to date but we keep on going as that’s how we are a strong resilient family which come what may keep following our Dreams of doing “El Triplete” again this year and playing Champions League the only club which can achieve this. We beat Lincoln in the Pepe Reyes Cup, knocked Lincoln out of the Gibtelecom RockCup and are in the semifinal and are at the top of the league same points as Lincoln so all to play for. With Brexit looming I believe I have to mention it as it’s also been a hard two years for Gibraltar as well but I know that as a strong Nation that we are and shown through out the ages that nothing can stop us from achieving Greatness we will come out Stronger. Would also like to keep reminding everyone to keep supporting Calpe House. keep Believing and never give up .

Eddie Yome Director Of Football
Dear all This is my first edition as the new Director of football for Europa Football Club. The club is going through a period of transition where new policies and procedures in how we do business have been introduced with a view of professionalising the club from Grassroots to the Senior side. The introduction of a new Head Professional Coach has meant that he has brought an ethos where all teams starting with our U5s all the way up to the premier side will train within the new ethos and system in how we train and play football. At the heart of this project we are starting with our own Football Academy which will work in partnership with external stakeholders concentrating on grassroots but also professionalising the not so young so that they in turn will impart their knowledge and skills as their way of giving back but also providing opportunities for those who wish to progress their football careers in coaching in the future. These are exciting times for the club and our doors are open to any of you that wish to jump onboard in such a footballing venture or wish for your children to be involved with football professionals as they grow through this great sport. I wish to take this opportunity and thank the board for having listened and supported the way forward. Kind regards
Eddie Yome QPM CPM Director of Football Europa FC

HEAD COACH RAFAEL ESCOBAR What do you think the standard of football is comparing to the divisions you have coached in Spain, does it compare to anywhere you have been? There are four teams with a very good level in the league, the others from mid table downwards the teams still compete and could beat you on the day but in Gibraltar all teams are progressing and there is still time to build on to get to a good level as the leagues in Spain. We all have to make the effort from FA to clubs to get better as a whole. Playing in the same stadium every game must be different from what you are accustomed, what is your impression on this? The most important is the fans don’t follow their teams and the spectators you see at the games, are either board members from the clubs or players family, that has really struck me, I am not accustomed in seeing few people at games. For Gibraltar, football to progress it has to have more training pitches to grow the game it is to the benefit of the players, as without proper training in adequate facilities you cannot get better. You came in and your 1st game was with Lincoln, how did you prepare with only a day to play that match? I only had one day to prepare the match so I prepared a game between us and I just asked the players to play 442 in zones. I saw the pros and cons of the players in that game and most of the players I knew anyway. I knew we were playing a great team so we had to be compact and organized to do well. Told them to work collectively and not as individuals and the skill from those individuals would come out during the game if we worked as a team. Next game is Lions, what kind of game do you expect? As every game and I respect every team and I expect a game, which will be tough and complicated, and the players will have to give 100% effort if we want to achieve a win in this game. We have to be humble and work with discipline to get a result without underestimating the opponents, as if we do not, we will not get the result we want. 5
Today’s Opponents LIONS FC Lions Gibraltar was founded as Lions Football Club in 1966 when a group of friends decided to take up a team after the euphoria of England winning the 1966 World Cup, thus the three lions on its club badge. After a quiet 45-year history, the club merged with league giants Gibraltar United in 2011 to create a much stronger side. After 3 years, however, Gibraltar United broke away to form their own side once again in 2014. Their time together saw the side consistently compete in the Gibraltar Premier Division, and the side continued this upon the GFA's admittance to UEFA in 2013. The 2013-14 season, their final season united with Gibraltar United, saw them narrowly avoid a relegation playoff with a 6th-place finish. After this, Gibraltar United joined the Gibraltar Second Division and Lions restructured, with English coach Jeff Wood appointed manager with ambitions to challenge the top sides and qualify for the UEFA Europa League. In February 2015 the club announced plans to become a feeder club with Premier League club Swansea City, although these plans eventually fell through. However, after a disappointing season in which the club finished bottom of the league (avoiding relegation due to the league's expansion), the club announced in July 2015 that it was to be taken over by Hercules Sports Promotion, Ltd, headed by Andrew Flowers (who had previously attempted to purchase Leeds United in 2013). Significant investment by the new ownership meant that Lions would now become a semiprofessional club with the aim of toppling Lincoln Red Imps' dominance.[3] The following season saw immediate improvement, with the club finishing 4th, however they remained significantly off the pace compared to the region's top two sides Lincoln Red Imps and Europa FC. Lions this season Manager is Albert Ferri. (SOURCE WILKEPEDIA)

SPOT ON TJ DE BARR Europa FC & Gibraltar At what age did you start playing football? I started playing football when I was 4 years old. What age are you now? Im 19 now, just recently turned 19. I’ve been playing football for 15 years now and I hope to have another 15 years left if god wants. Did you play other sports when you were younger? Since I was young I’ve always been involved in practically every sport, I think it’d good if you have a try at all of them at a young age as it will help you focus on the right one later on when you get older as I have done with football.
In one season your football life has changed quite a bit, 1st eleven in one of the top teams in Gibraltar, breaking into the Gibraltar National Team 1st eleven, signed by Oviedo a 2nd Division Spanish team, did you expected all that has happened to you in less than a season? Well I joined Europa with objectives, at the beginning of the season I set myself targets. I came to Europa and my main objective was to break into the first eleven, then I had In my mind that if I wanted to achieve anything in football I had to leave abroad to do so. I’ve been trying since a very young age to leave Gibraltar to try and make it abroad and I basically told myself that it needed to be this year as I think that I’m at the perfect age to start my career elsewhere. So to be honest, I can’t tell you that I expected all this but I knew I was capable and thats why I had them as objectives and at the end of the day its always going to be up to me on how much work I put towards my goals. What is your ambition once you get to your new club next season? I need to continue to work hard, thats the key. I’m going to Oviedo with one of the same objectives as when I joined Europa and thats to break into the first team. It will certainly be harder because of the level of football and players ill be competing with. Another ambition of mine is I want to be able to open the doors to all of the other players in Gibraltar, there are a lot of good players here that I’m certain could also make abroad and who knows maybe with myself signing abroad it could get others to keep an eye for fellow Gibraltarians. What is your best moment this season? For now I don’t have any because we still haven’t done enough to be satisfied. If I really had to choose id say the first game I played with Europa vs Lincoln because its the first silverware we’ve picked up. Maybe ill be able to answer at the end of the season if we win the two competitions left 10
What has been the most important goal you have scored this season up to now? Id say the goal vs St Joseph in the 1-0 win. St Joseph are a very hard side to beat so getting those three points were very important. What advice can you give to any youngster that wants to follow your footsteps? For the upcoming youngsters, the most important thing is being focused and working hard. Without those two you’ll never get anywhere. Decision making is also very important, always try to do what you think would be right for yourself. Lastly, always be confident and never be shy to do what you want to do on the pitch. It’s one thing I’ve always carried with me on the pitch and something ill carry off with me the day I’m not playing football anymore. Confidence is extremely important. Thanks Tjay for the interview and best of luck in the future.
