PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS FOR BEGINNERS

As a new photographer, the excitement of being able to start taking photos can take the place of learning how to grow and develop the skill. Good photography takes time and practice, and the journey towards getting better starts by developing the right fundamentals.

HOLDING THE CAMERA

CONSIDER A CHANGE OF PERSPECTIVE

Having the right equipment is essential to the growth process as a photographer, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be the most expensive – at least not right away. A relatively affordable pointand-shoot camera is enough to get an individual started. As they learn the basics and take more photos, they’ll eventually realize the type of camera they should upgrade to.

Learning how to hold a camera can seem mundane, but it’s one of the most vital aspects to perform properly from the beginning. A proper hold is one that reduces camera shake, and the key to accomplishing this is to bring the arms as close to the body as possible. For photos that require long exposure times or low-light, consider investing in a tripod.

Learning how to take photos from different angles is a useful skill to cultivate. The ordinary, straight-on perspective doesn’t always produce remarkable images, so consider changing aspects such as angle, distance and elevation to bring out a different view.
