This newsletter has information about the many projects planned for WDC 2014 as well as our traditional events such as the AGM and the March Potters’ Market. Check our website: www.ceramics-sa-cape.co.za and Facebook for continuously updated information. AGM The AGM will take place in the Good Hope Gallery (above the Fired exhibition) at the Cape Town Castle on Saturday 8 March 2014 at 9am. A continental breakfast will be served from 8am courtesy of the CSA committee. The AGM provides members with an opportunity to interact with the committee and with each other to ensure effective management of the association, to protect it’s legacy and to plan for the future. Please try to attend and effect change. After the AGM we will have the following events; 1) 10h30 a presentation by a member of Cape Town’s World Design Capital team, 2) 11h00 Hennie Meyer and Janine de Waal will talk about their WDC project with a practical demonstration 3) 11h30 A walkabout led by Esther Esmyol of the installation of 101 place settings in the Lady Anne banqueting hall. POTTERS’ MARKET The market takes place at Rondebosch Park on Saturday 22 March. Please ensure that your membership is up to date and your table fees paid. before the market There will no longer be collections of any money by committee members at the market. If you do not have a permit to trade you will not be allowed to enter the park. Committee members will man the boom to ensure that only members who have a permit to trade will be allowed in. We earnestly ask for your co-operation in this regard. RUTHANNE TUDBALL WORKSHOP Ruthanne Tudball has been invited to visit South Africa by Nina Shand and Paul de Jongh. She will present a 3 day Soda Firing Workshop in McGregor. Ruthanne has kindly agreed to present a one day workshop in Cape Town before she goes to McGregor. This will take place at the Art in the Forest studio on Wednesday 23 April. Please check the advert for this workshop in this newsletter and on our website. November 2014 From African earth; a celebration of ceramics The following events take place in November 2014. I)
Corobrik National Exhibition opens on Sunday 16 November and runs until 6 December 2014 at the Great Cellar, Alphen Estate, Constantia .
2) CSA- Iziko collaborative exhibition ; From African Earth; a celebration of our African vessel heritage. Opens at the Good Hope Gallery, Cape Town Castle on Thursday 13 November and runs until January 2015 This exhibition will have two components’: (a) an heritage exhibition of African vessels from the Iziko collection and (b) an exhibition of vessels made in the same style by CSA members .
